An all-inclusive, family-catering hotel in the Italian seaside resort town of Cesenatico, the Hotel Executive – one of a group of four local hotels in town, called the Club Family Hotels – has a wide range of amenities aimed at families with younger children. Located a short walk from the beach and the main city center, the resort complex is designed to offer families everything they need, from a garden with children's play area to a large heated outdoor pool surrounded by loungers; from buffet meals to a kids' club with organized activities. Rooms are small, but have private balconies. The resort also feels quite dated, with somewhat run-down decor. Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby area. Watch out for a three night minimum stay requirement.
Scene
All-inclusive stay designed for families with young children
Popular with Italian families with young children – the all-inclusive resort allows children under the age of 15 to stay for free with two adults – the resort has a lively center garden and pool area around which the buildings are situated. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day from the outdoor bar next to the pool; in good weather, lunch is served outdoors in a lively picnic-style area where children can continue to play. The resort is designed to be somewhere guests don't have to leave; indoors, there's a kids' club with plenty of games and activities, and a bar for adults to have a drink.
Location
Beach resort town on the Italian Adriatic
Located in a leafy residential neighborhood (there's a park next door to the hotel) in the Italian Adriatic resort town of Cesenatico, the Hotel Executive is walking distance from the city center, and several blocks from the beach. It may not be the most central location, but a small train designed for families with little kids takes guests on a tour of the town once a day. It's worth noting that the hotel has limited on-site parking. The nearest city with a major international airport is Bologna, over an hour's drive away.
Rooms
Small and dated, with private balconies and flat-screen TVs
Rooms at the Hotel Executive are clean and simple, if small, dated in decor, and a bit worn around the edges. Red patterned bedding, carpets, and curtains can feel a tad stifling - thankfully, all rooms have private balconies. The family-catering philosophy means that extra beds and bunk beds are available in most rooms. While rooms don't have kitchenettes, there's a full kitchen downstairs that's available for parents to heat milk and make snacks at any hour. Rooms also have a minibar; and cribs, side rails, night-lights, and potty training toilet seats are all available upon request. In the bathrooms, which have stall showers, the water pressure can get low at busy times.
Features
Extensive range of family offerings, from swimming pool to kids' club
The Hotel Executive has an extensive list of features aimed at families. The most popular feature is probably the fully staffed kids' club, which offers both indoor and outdoor games and activities throughout the day. Staff dress up as movie characters and offer entertainment during meals. In the central garden, there's a bouncy house near the pool, and the pool itself has toys and organized games for children. The all-inclusive rates give guests access to three meals a day at the cafeteria-like buffet restaurant indoors; also included are meals at the outdoor picnic lunch buffet, an afternoon snack for kids, and a late-night snack and drink buffet. There's also a small, dated spa with limited treatments and a sauna, as well as a small fitness center. Strollers and bicycles are available, and a pediatrician comes by the hotel once a day.
