Best Value Hotels in the Cayman Islands

The Reef Resort is a sprawling, upper-middle-range, 152-unit property located on Grand Cayman’s quiet East End. Every unit is an oceanfront suite and the balconies and porches offer gorgeous views of the beach. Extensive property features include a spa, fitness center, tennis courts, and water sports provider. Though the Reef is large and spread out, it does not have the feeling of a megaresort, like Morritt’s Tortuga Club & Resort next door. There is an optional all-inclusive option, but with only two restaurants on-site, some may find it limiting.

Comfort Suites is arguably the best affordable option in the expensive Seven Mile Beach area of Grand Cayman. A mid-level chain, it has all the expected basic amenities –- clean and modern rooms, business and fitness centers, free hot breakfast, and free Wi-Fi. Other draws include an attractive pool area, a small but beautiful beachfront, an on-site restaurant and bar with surprisingly good food, and a dive shop. It's hard to do better for your money in this area. Just be aware Comfort Suites isn't directly on the sand -- it's about a minute's walk down a private path -- and its section of beach is a bit small.

The mid-range Sunshine Suites Resort is one of the affordable options in the expensive Seven Mile Beach area, and freebies such as gym access (to World Gym two miles away) and Wi-Fi add to the value. One of the top-rated restaurants on the island is on-site, and the resort is conveniently located close to the more food and drink options as well. Each suite has a full kitchen but the decor is dated and the beach is located across the street behind another large hotel, which may be a deal-breaker for some. Nearby Comfort Suites is located closer to the beach and has better rooms, but no full kitchens.

7 Mile Beach Resort and Club is a small, intimate property located on the southern end of Grand Cayman’s famous Seven Mile Beach. This time-share resort offers two-bedroom, two-bathroom units, rented out when there is availability. The pool area is lively yet relaxing, with two waterfalls, a hot tub, and a kiddy pool. The resort employs a full-time activities director and offers numerous festivities throughout the week. The tropical decor in the units is dated but remodeling is planned for spring of 2015. The resort is not directly on the beach, but a short walk (two minutes) down a private path.
