Scene
Chic decor and a casual, kid-friendly atmosphere
The hotel is stylishly decorated and minimalist, yet approachable for families. The lobby and exterior are all white, including whitewashed brick walls and white furniture, all of which somehow remains spotless. The lobby and hallways also have playful, beach-inspired touches -- like painted driftwood and model ships -- to keep the atmosphere casually sophisticated. A small ship-themed playroom is filled with colorful tables and toys, with pin boards crammed with kids' drawings. Guests relax on the shaded outdoor veranda overlooking a playground and the charming street.
Location
Close to the beach in a busy neighborhood
Hotel Gambrinus Mare is on a street filled with bars, restaurants, and shops in Cattolica, a small town with Roman roots (and an aquarium) about a half-hour drive from the center of historic Rimini. It’s a few minutes’ walk to beautiful Cattolica beach. The Rimini airport is a 25-minute drive or taxi ride away, while the Bologna airport is an hour-and-a-half away.
Rooms
Clean and sophisticated, but small
The hotel’s 40 air-conditioned rooms have clean and simple, but sophisticated decor that matches the rest of the property -- white, minimalist, and with beach-inspired wall art. Some rooms have bunk beds and there are clean bathrooms with stall showers. The only drawback is that the rooms are on the small side. All rooms have small balconies and good basics: flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, and hairdryers. Some of the higher-level rooms come with bathrobes, slippers, and free bottled water.
Features
Buffet meals and children’s activities
The hotel offers an all-inclusive option, with buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner (including different pasta options). There are special themed nights, including a sarong evening and a grand gala red carpet night. The small outdoor play area, along with an indoor (supervised) ship-themed play room, make this a great property for kids. Owners Gianni and Lisa organize activities and shows for the young guests, as well -- for example, aquarium trips. The hotel has free bicycle rentals, including some with kiddy seats. The nearby beach has swimming pools, a hot tub, fitness area, hot showers, and a children’s play area.
