Evenia Olympic Palace

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Evenia Olympic Palace is a four-pearl all-inclusive resort with a sprawling kid-friendly pool complex and family features galore. With six pools, dragon-themed waterslides, a spa, a buffet restaurant, and a bar, there’s plenty to keep the family entertained. The 167 rooms are pleasant and modern. Each comes with two flat-screen TVs, balconies, and microwaves. Guests on the all-inclusive plan can access a free shuttle to the beach. But the resort has a few pesky fees -- for the spa, gym, and Wi-Fi. As an alternative, Hotel Guitart has similar amenities and rooms, and Wi-Fi is free.

2

Hotel Evenia Olympic Park

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

While there are other all-inclusive resorts in the area, few offer as many great amenities as this hotel, including several large pools; a great water park complete with a pirate ship and slides; and a spa. The hotel underwent renovations in 2014, and most rooms are cheerful and contemporary, with flat-screen TVs and balconies. However, some common areas -- such as the restaurant -- could use an update as well. Location in a quiet part of Lloret, within walking distance of the city center, is a plus -- but guests should note that there are a few pesky fees, including for Wi-Fi, and for use of tennis courts and in-room safes.

3

Hotel GHT Aquarium & SPA

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Hotel GHT Aquarium & SPA is a family-friendly budget hotel located a short walk from Fenals Beach. It features 240 rooms with balconies, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and 2015-renovated decor. Features include a nice pool, a decent buffet restaurant, and a small fitness center. The highlight, however, is the adults-only spa, which offers a heated pool, heated loungers, a steam room, whirlpool, and sensation showers. For beachfront digs, consider Hotel Santa Marta, though rooms there are dated.

4

Aparthotel Costa Encantada

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

The budget-friendly Costa Encantada is a solid pick for families and groups. It offers 281 studios and apartments with fully equipped kitchens, balconies or terraces, and flat-screen TVs. They may not be stylish, but feature all the basics, and offer access to a couple of pools -- including one for kids -- a small spa, a solid buffet restaurant, and a kids’ club. Location within walking distance of Fenals Beach and the city center is a big plus. Just note that there are a number of pesky fees, including for Wi-Fi, or indoor parking, and for use of in-room safes and padel courts.

5

Hotel Acapulco Lloret

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Hotel Acapulco is a solid mid-range resort in a central location in Lloret de Mar. It is certainly not a four-star hotel as advertised, but its rooms are clean and bright, and it does offer a few nice amenities, including a pool with a whirlpool and an area for kids, a large restaurant serving a decent buffet daily, and a tiny spa with one treatment room. There are family-friendly apartment-style rooms complete with a kitchenette, a furnished terrace, and a separate living area. However, decor is basic and generic overall; exterior-facing rooms in the lower floors can get street noise; and a few rooms have not been renovated since 2011, and still feature dated decor.

6

ALEGRIA Plaza Paris

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

The four-pearl Alegria Plaza Paris is a fun and lively property that's within a seven-minute walk to the beach and Lloret de Mar. Its public spaces are attractive, and while some of its 146 guest rooms are sleek with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and balconies, other rooms are dated. There’s a full restaurant, bar, gym, pools, and hot tubs, plus a spa that comes with an extra charge. Overall, it’s a good choice for couples and friends traveling together, but the young party crowd can get noisy at night. Note that this hotel closes in the winter. Travelers might want to compare rates at Gran Hotel Flamingo, which also has a fun, party-like atmosphere.

7

Alba Seleqtta Hotel

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Alba Seleqtta is a mid-range hotel located in a quiet area a short walk from the beach and the city center. It features 180 contemporary rooms with balconies and HD flat-screen TVs. Junior Suite Design are particularly appealing, with carved wooden headboards, accent walls, and jetted tubs. The hotel offers a wide array of on-site amenities, including a pool, a spa, a solid Mediterranean restaurant, and a kids’ club. Just note that there are a number of pesky fees -- such as Wi-Fi, parking, and for use of mini-fridges -- and that there have been complaints of poor soundproofing in rooms.

8

Gran Hotel Flamingo

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Gran Hotel Flamingo is a large, fun budget hotel catering to a young crowd. Rooms are spacious, with contemporary (if simple) decor and good amenities such as free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and balconies. With a poolside bar, a taco shack, and a cocktail bar in the lobby, the hotel is a solid pick for those looking to party. Its central location right in the heart of the nightlife area and a short walk from the beach is a plus. But travelers who’d rather get a good nights’ sleep and sunbathe by a quiet pool may want to stay elsewhere.

9

GHT Oasis Park & SPA

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

This GHT is a large, budget hotel with an all-inclusive option located a short walk from a nice beach. While amenities such as a small spa; two large pools; free Wi-Fi; and kids’ club are all great perks, rooms are dated and poorly soundproofed, and there are myriad pesky fees. Suites, however, are contemporary and feature small kitchenettes (no hobs, though), and terraces complete with a whirlpool. Those who want to sit by the pool may want to wake up early, as there aren’t a ton of loungers.

10

Hotel Acacias Suites & Spa

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

The upper-middle-range Hotel Acacias Suites & Spa has a walkable location on the edge of Lloret de Mar, five minutes from the beach. The hotel consists of two buildings -- the older building was last renovated in 2004, and its rooms and public spaces need an update. Standard Rooms include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and mini-fridges. Apartments and Suites are in the newer part of the hotel, and come with full kitchens, whirlpools, and cardio equipment. Be aware that breakfast and in-room Wi-Fi come with a fee, and guests must pay to use the spa, whose features include an indoor pool, hot tub, gym, and sauna. A small aboveground outdoor pool is open in the summer. Standard Rooms can only be booked in the busy season (between spring and fall), while Apartments and Suites are available year-round. The on-site restaurant is open only in peak season. Travelers could also consider Hotel Anabel, which offers nicer rooms, free use of the spa, and free Wi-Fi throughout.

11

Hotel Don Juan Resort

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Gran Hotel Don Juan is a huge value property conveniently located a short walk form the beach and the city center. It features a wide array of amenities, including two pools, three restaurants, a kids’ club, and poolside massages. But rooms are small and dated, and soundproofing is lacking. Low rates and all-inclusive meal plans draw groups of young partiers, so those looking to spend a quiet, relaxing vacation by the pool may want to stay elsewhere.

12

H·TOP Royal Beach

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

The H Top Royal Beach is a large budget hotel located down the street from Fenals Beach. It is not as upscale as its advertised 4-star rating suggests, but it does have a few nice perks. Highlights here include a rooftop featuring two whirlpools, a bar, and loungers; a nice pool with an area for kids; and a kids’ club offering activities both for kids and teenagers. Rooms are adequate overall, with furnished balconies, generic decor with wood accents, and air-conditioning. However, all units have small tube TVs, there’s a fee for Wi-Fi, and lower floors can get noise.

13

H·TOP Royal Star & SPA

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

H Top Royal Star is a large budget hotel catering to families and couples, but popular during peak season among groups of young partiers. Rooms are spacious, bright, and perfectly adequate, with decent bathrooms, air-conditioning, and balconies. In-room amenities, however, are basic, and walls paper thin. Hotel highlights include two small pools, a buffet restaurant, a small spa, and a kids’ club -- but this hotel is far from upscale, as its official 4-star rating suggests. Sister property H Top Royal Beach offers better rates, a location closer to the beach, and an overall more relaxing atmosphere.

14

Guitart Central Park Aqua Resort

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

Guitart Central Park is a 647-room resort located blocks from two sandy beaches, many shops, and nightlife. Its five pools, five restaurants, spa, and low rates make it a good pick for families on a budget. But the hotel is popular with young partiers, and it can get loud and rowdy. Most rooms are small, featuring basic amenities and old tube-style TVs.

15

H·TOP Alexis

Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain

H Top Alexis is an aging budget hotel located a five-minute walk from the beach in Lloret de Mar. Its super low rates draw a mixed crowd of young partiers and couples on a tight budget -- but rooms are tired and dated (think: thin bedspreads, tube TVs, and poor soundproofing) and there have been complaints of lack of cleanliness. Property highlights include a plunge pool; three above-ground pools with a bar area on the rooftop, and a restaurant serving a decent buffet. All-inclusive guests can use the facilities at sister hotels in town, which is probably good news, as the hotel is in urgent need of extensive renovations.
