This small hotel is situated a few-minutes' walk from the water in the beach town of Platja d’Aro. The simple, budget property has fresh, modern (if bare bones) rooms and an intimate atmosphere, thanks to charming common areas and well-manicured grounds full of tropical plants. The 39 rooms here are no-frills, but all feature balconies, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. An extensive buffet breakfast is included in the room price, and there is a restaurant as well as a bar on-site; the lunch menu, in particular, is a good value.
Scene
Well-manicured grounds and a relaxed atmosphere
Lounging areas abound in and around this three-story structure, which makes for a breezy atmosphere conducive to vacationing. Wicker lounge chairs, replete with pillows, line the flagstone front walkway leading to the lobby and adjacent outdoor bar and restaurant terrace, where guests gather for meals and cocktails. The grounds are nicely landscaped with palm trees and pines. The bar has charming, wood-paneled, and chrome-accented café-esque decor reminiscent of the sleek Art Deco lines of the '30s.
Location
On a residential street a five-minute walk to the city beach
The hotel is situated on a quiet street a few minutes from the water in the beach town of Platja d’Aro. The town is located about an hour-and-a-quarter’s drive from the Barcelona airport; private buses go directly from the airport to town in about two-and-a-half hours, with a handful of trips daily. The resort town is about three kilometers to Castell, an inland village built around a medieval castle.
Rooms
Simple, clean rooms with some dated elements
Beds here are comfortable, and while the decor is plain, upkeep is good. Decor may vary from room to room, but in general follows a simple, white-on-white scheme with modern light fixtures. Some double rooms have laminate wood flooring, back-lit headboards, and sand-colored curtains to match the wood; other rooms have linoleum tiling and darker wood accents. Many rooms have small balconies. Guests may want to note that there is neither AC nor fans in the rooms.
Features
Bike rentals, an outdoor terrace and lounge, and a small business center -- little else
The hotel does not have a plethora of amenities, though it does have a small business center with a computer, and an area for plugging in and working at laptops. It also maintains a bike rental and repair area with a good number of tools. Among the main attractions of the property are comfortable seating areas spread throughout the hotel, both situated along the walkway leading up to the lobby and in the outdoor patio adjacent to the bar and restaurant. There is a small, gated outdoor parking area; the daily fee here is rather high. There is no pool or fitness center, but there is a small bar-meets-cafe which serves a free breakfast.
