With 519 rooms, the H TOP Olympic is bigger than the
other two H TOP all-inclusives in the area, and this mid-range hotel is also the
least expensive of the three. Its best feature is the huge outdoor pool area
with palm trees, loungers, and a pretty pool with bridge and waterfall
features. The hotel is clean but dated, and rooms
have popcorn spackling and tube-style TVs. The hotel offers half-board,
full-board, and all-inclusive options, and guests get free access to the other
two sister properties in the area. Guests may also want to check out MedPlaya Hotel Santa Monica, a mid-range hotel with clean rooms and a friendly staff, but slightly higher rates.
Scene
Busy bars, dated indoor areas, and pretty pool area
The H TOP
Olympic is a big hotel that sometimes hosts a lot of guests at the same time, including big groups, so there's often a line at the bar. Guests on the all-inclusive plan have to return their glasses to get another drink. The common areas have
dated furnishings, including a reading room with cushioned beachy chairs that show wear, and a TV room that has chairs with faded cushions. With
a pretty pool and several palm trees, the outdoor pool area is much more
impressive than the indoor spaces, and has an outdoor bar with a seating area
furnished with chairs and umbrellas.
Location
Near other hotels, a 10-minute walk to the beach
H TOP Olympic is in a resort area within a 10-minute walk to the beach. Restaurants, bars, and shops are within a short walk. One of
its sister hotels, H TOP Calella, where guests can use the facilities is less
than a five-minute walk. Barcelona and Girona are both about a 45-minute
drive. There’s also a train station in Calella that provides service to coastal
towns.
Rooms
Clean, simple rooms with dated furnishings
Rooms are simple and dated, with pale-pink popcorn-spackled
walls, maroon chair rails, and minimal decor. Thin blue top sheets and inexpensive-looking
light wooden furnishings give the space a low-budget feel, and guests complain that rooms can be noisy. Rooms have
wall-mounted tube-style TVs, and bathrooms have shower/tub combinations. Rooms
with small balconies furnished with plastic chairs are available.
Features
Big outdoor pool with separate children’s pool and pool bar
The main outdoor pool is pretty, with a bridge and
waterfall features. There are outdoor showers for rinsing off, an outdoor bar
with seating, and a separate children’s pool. There’s also a second, smaller
pool area. Inside the hotel, there’s a small game room with an air hockey table and two
pay-per-use computers. All H Top hotels offer free access to sister properties
in the area, so those who want to check out other pools can use
those facilities as well.
