One of the three H TOP all-inclusives in the area, H
TOP Calella Palace is a mid-range hotel with low rates and clean,
bright rooms; some have balconies offering scenic views. Guests
report that the walls are thin, though, and rooms on the lower floors can get
the noise from the pool area. The hotel has an outdoor pool with two separate
children’s pools, a fitness center, and a large indoor kids’ club with daily
activities. The hotel offers half-board, full-board, and all-inclusive options,
and guests get free access to the other two sister properties in the area. Guests may also want to check out MedPlaya Hotel Santa Monica, a mid-range hotel with clean rooms and a friendly staff.
Scene
Family-friendly hotel with roof terrace
Near the main pool area is a bar with outdoor seating that serves pizza and cocktails. Guests on the all-inclusive plan have to return their glasses to the bar in order to get another drink, which leaves many areas free of empty glasses but can be an inconvenience for guests. Inside, the bar has a stage and holds disco lights for the evening entertainment. The roof terrace offers a spot for guests to relax on lounge chairs or in the whirlpool and take in the views of the sea and mountains. An outdoor kids’ pool
area features a small pool just for the little ones, and inside the hotel is a huge kids’ club with wooden floors, bright-blue walls, a playhouse, and a small ball pit kids can climb into. A wall displays the colorful artwork children have created at
the club.
Location
On residential street, a 10-minute walk from the beach
H TOP Calella is on a residential street within a 10-minute walk from
the beach. There are restaurants as well as bars and shops within a short
walk. One of its sister hotels, H TOP Olympic, where guests can use the pool facilities, is less than a five-minute walk away. Barcelona and Girona are both around a 45-minute drive. There’s also a
train station in Calella that provides service to coastal towns.
Rooms
Clean, bright rooms with double beds
Rooms at the Calella Palace are clean and bright
with salmon-colored walls and tile floors. Tropical pictures, along with floral
curtains and bedspreads create a colorful space. Rooms have wall-mounted
flat-screen TVs, and some have small, furnished balconies with
mountain views. Bathrooms have makeup mirrors and shower/tub combinations. Guests complain that rooms can be noisy, and recommend
requesting rooms on higher floors to avoid the noise from the pool area.
Features
Big kids’ club, outdoor pool and two children’s pools, and terrace whirlpool
The hotel has a large kids’ club, a small outdoor
play area, and two children’s pools. There’s outdoor seating for the bar near
the pool, and a roof terrace offers loungers and a whirlpool with views of the
sea. A second whirlpool is located inside the hotel. For indoor recreation, there
is a small fitness center and billiards, air hockey, and Ping-Pong. There’s an Internet corner with five pay-per-use computers. All H Top hotels offer
free access to sister properties in the area, so those who want to check out
other pools can use those facilities as well.
