Those looking to get a full tan can check out the discreet nudist area featuring access to a whirlpool.
Scene
A modern hotel offering solid on-site amenities
The hotel, first open in 2003, is housed in a five-story building with a singular glass façade that makes it stand out among neighboring constructions. The entrance to the lobby is a striking space covered in glass on four sides -- including the roof and three walls -- and featuring an exterior zigzagging staircase decorated with hanging plants. The lobby area itself is bright and contemporary, with tons of sofas, three elevators, and a long front desk.
Location
Within walking distance of the beach and the historic center of Tossa
Golden Bahía Tossa takes up a whole block in a residential area in Tossa de Mar. A few minutes’ walk down the street is the historic center, with low white buildings lining quaint cobblestone alleys, some too narrow for cars. There are two beaches within a 15-minute walk from the hotel, and a number of coves -- such as Cala Giverola and Cala Pola -- can be found a quick drive away. The Barcelona airport is a 1-hour-20-minute drive away, and Girona-Costa Brava Airport can be reached in 35 minutes.
Rooms
Spacious and bright -- but somewhat generic
The hotel has 380 rooms, all of which can sleep at least three guests. All units are clean and bright, but quite generic for an advertised four-pearl hotel. Decor is mostly contemporary but a tad bland, with thin maroon bedspreads, blonde wood furniture, and a couple of contemporary paintings on the wall. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, and empty mini-fridges. Most bathrooms are spacious, with cream-colored tiling and countertops, hotel-brand toiletries, and shower/tub combos. Standard Rooms sleep up to three guests; Family Rooms have two double beds and a small sitting area, and Junior Suites have a separate living room. Most rooms have balconies with either pool or street views.
Features
A ton of on-site amenities, including a spa, two large pools, and a fitness center
The highlight of this hotel is probably the pool area. The main pool is a free-form one with a bridge, a zero-entry area, and two whirlpools. The kiddy pool is located adjacent to the main one, and across from the snack bar. The second pool is where most of the activities take place, with volleyball and aqua fitness classes offered weekly. Scattered throughout the pool area are loungers, umbrellas, pool tables and ping-pong tables.Additionally, the hotel offers a number of other great on-site amenities, such as a small spa complete with a whirlpool, a sauna and a steam room; a spacious fitness center with many machines; a restaurant; three bars and a lounge; fully equipped meeting rooms; a game room for kids; mini-golf; and a nudist area closed off from the rest of the resort.Dining options include a restaurant and a snack bar; both half and full board rates are available.
