GHT is a series of Costa Brava chain hotels; this particular mid-range property, situated a five-minute walk from the city beach in a residential neighborhood, is a plain, apartment-like building centered around a small outdoor pool. Standard rooms are simple and somewhat beach-y, with wicker furniture and tile floors. Some basic complaints are not uncommon here, including that walls are thin, tropical-theme decor dated, and amenities scarce. The hotel does, however, suit the needs of many budget travelers looking for a convenient location to the beaches and downtown of Tossa de Mar. Families, in particular, are attracted to the few amenities that do exist, such as the kiddie pool and children's activities.

This plain, but not unattractive, hotel fits squarely into the '80s aesthetic with slightly tired wicker furniture, frosted glass and marble surfaces, and a wood-paneled buffet-style cafeteria. The property consists of a solid block of six-story, white stucco buildings set around an outdoor swimming pool in a residential neighborhood; the pool area in particular can be overrun by families and can get quite loud.

The property sits a few blocks from the city beach, Platja Gran, which is flanked by a medieval tower to the west. Girona, which has the nearest major airport, is about a 40-minute drive; getting from the airport to the hotel is possible by public bus, which takes about an hour. Hotel parking is on the pricey side; there is some parking on the street around the hotel.

Nautical-themed rooms; many overlooking the pool
Wood paneling and rattan headboards give a slight tropical bent to these rooms, which are overall quite plain, with ceramic tile floors and only a few additional attempts at decor. Overall, they are clean, though room maintenance during stays has received mixed reviews. Rooms directly overlooking the pool may receive noise in the morning. All rooms have balconies, satellite TV, and free Wi-Fi (although there are complaints that it's spotty).

The spa -- complete with a whirlpool, Turkish bath, indoor pool with a water fountain, and heated loungers -- is perhaps the hotel's best feature, and access is included with the room price (treatments are extra). The outdoor pool is somewhat small, considering the number of guests, but has lots of sun beds and umbrellas -- a must, as there is no natural shade to be found. While the buffet-style restaurant does not impress, there are many dining options within walking distance of the hotel. The small fitness center has modern machines.
