Aqua Hotel Onabrava & Spa

This hotel is situated in a two beige buildings connected by the lobby area. It's about 30 years old, but has been well-maintained and looks modern and fresh. Guests enter through revolving glass doors, and inside a skylight fills the large lobby with light. Contemporary leather seating is accented by huge modern light fixtures, and marble stairs lead down to the lower level. Wood and metal accents and soft lighting distinguish the front desk. The lobby bar has a grand piano, and the look overall is sleek and stylish, while the buffet restaurant is a massive contemporary, if somewhat impersonal, space. The hotel is especially suitable for couples and families looking for a coastal vacation with plenty of on-site activities. 

Aqua Hotel Onabrava is located in a hotel-filled area of Santa Susanna, a coastal village in the Province of Barcelona. It is surrounded by other hotels, restaurants, and bars, and is close to the town center and the beach (a 10-minute walk or less). It's an ideal location for tourists, easily reached by car or train, and there are multiple dining spots within walking distance. In the summer months, guests can stroll along the hotel strip, where stalls are set up selling local items. Driving times include 50 minutes to Montenegre-Corredor National Park, and an hour to the city of Barcelona and the Barcelona airport. A train station is located a six-minute walk from the hotel, and trips into Barcelona will take about 90 minutes. 

Decor varies from category to category, but all rooms are modern and clean, if a bit basic. Standard Rooms have dated patterned bedspreads, beige tile floors, beige walls, and modern medium-toned wood furnishings and doors. Views show a glimpse of the sea, the city, and the mountains. Decor is a step up in Superior and Premium Rooms, and includes a trendy gray accent wall as well as gray throw pillows, bed runners, and drapery. Artwork is contemporary throughout and provides an abstract dash of color. All rooms have one or two double beds, furnished balconies or patios, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges. Bathrooms have hairdryers, makeup mirrors, and bidets; they are chain-style in size, with spacious vanities and shower/tub combos. Superior Rooms add a hot tub and large terrace with sea views. Premium Rooms have pool views and Wi-Fi.

The hotel's restaurant offers an expansive buffet for all three meals, and there are live cooking stations. Guests should keep in mind that there is a dress code in the evening, and various board options are available for meals, though drinks aren't included. Three on-site bars include one in the lobby, the music bar on the main floor, and La Pergola on the terrace. Nightly entertainment ranges from live music to flamenco and magic shows, and dancing often follows. The outdoor pool has a hydromassage area and aqua gym classes in the summer. Tightly spaced lounge chairs and umbrellas surround the pool, and palm trees provide a bit of shade and a tropical touch. A covered terrace nearby has a snack bar. Towels are provided only for guests in Superior and Premium rooms. Kids have their own smaller pool, and a free indoor kids' club helps keep them entertained. There is a game room with video games, billiards, and table tennis, and sports such as football are available for a fee at nearby sister property Aquamarina. On-site activities include sports competitions, bingo, and terrace games, and bikes are available for rent. The large on-site spa has a heated pool, thermal circuit, hot tub, sauna, steam room, biothermic and tropical showers, aerobics room, and fitness room. A variety of treatments are offered, including massages. The spacious fitness center has cardio and weight-training machines, but there is a fee to use it. The hotel has a variety of spaces suitable for business or social gatherings and can accommodate up to 270 people. Wi-Fi is not free, but is available, as are airport transfers and laundry services.
