Bottom Line

Three-pearl Apartmentos Pineda Park is a solid option, especially for families, with a central location in the resort town of La Pineda. Bars, restaurants, and the beach are all within a five-minute walk, and there are several theme parks a short drive away. The hotel itself has plenty to do, which is not always the case with apartment hotels. There are outdoor pools, a playground, large game room, and well-received restaurant with evening entertainment. The 62 large apartments can cater for groups of up to seven. Bedrooms and kitchens can be compact, but families will appreciate the full kitchens, and all units are air-conditioned and have balconies. Travelers who don't need a kitchen might save a bit by opting for a suite at nearby Gran Hotel La Hacienda.

Scene

Attractive apartment hotel with a laid-back family feel

Pineda Park is a large attractive pink stone building set on a leafy avenue and fronted with palm trees. The welcoming, tropical style continues inside. The large lobby has a natural feel, with rustic wood and rattan furniture, vibrant wall paintings, and leafy potted plants. There's a laid-back resort atmosphere, and guests wander freely from the pretty outdoor pool area, to the bar, to the well-equipped game room. It's one of the pricier hotels in La Pineda, and it's clear why. For an apartment hotel, facilities are excellent. It's a popular choice for families and there are plenty of couples here too.

Location

Central location in La Pineda, a five-minute walk to the beach and restaurants

Apartmentos Pineda Park are in a good spot in the resort town of La Pineda. There's a supermarket along the road and a few restaurants nearby. The beach, and bars/restaurants along the beachfront, are a five-minute walk away. It's a five-minute drive to Aquopolis Costa Dorada water park, and a 10-minute drive to theme park attractions like Portaventura and Ferrari Land. It's about the same journey time by car to the neighboring historic town of Tarragona, and about 15 minutes to buzzy Salou. Reus Airport is a 15-minute drive away, and it's an hour's drive to Barcelona.

Rooms

Versatile apartments cater for up to seven, and come with balconies and full kitchens

Apartments are typical of the region, with a simple finish that features pine furniture and tiled floors. Rooms are large; two- and three-bedroom configurations are available and many have sofa beds for additional guests. However, bedrooms and kitchens are compact. Living rooms include flat-screen TVs, dining tables, and furnished balconies -- some overlooking the pool. Galley-style kitchens have full ovens and fridge-freezers, plus sinks, microwaves, kettles, toasters, and tableware. Other amenities include air-conditioning, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Apartments all have family bathrooms with screened shower/tubs and separate shower-rooms with toilets/sinks. Toiletries are not provided.

Features

Nice outdoor space with pools and activities, plus restaurant with British menu, and seasonal entertainment

Features are a strong point at this apartment hotel. There's a nice outdoor area, and while the pool isn't huge, there's plenty of space to kick back. There is a separate kids' pool, a playground, and a variety of outdoor games on hand. The poolside restaurant has seating both inside and out, and offers a well-received menu, including many British favorites, such as full cooked English breakfasts. By night there is (seasonal) entertainment and cocktails. The hotel runs a kids' club, and there's a game room with a pool table, several arcade machines, and internet stations. The large lobby has vending machines, and a small library of books. Wi-Fi is free throughout. It's worth noting that much of the entertainment and restaurant service is reduced out of season.
