Bottom Line

The 10-floor, 55-room Moroccan House Hotel Casablanca is a fairly charming mid-range hotel in the city center. It is one of the best hotels in Casablanca, especially in its price range, for offering a genuine Moroccan feel in its decor and atmosphere. While it doesn't have a swimming pool, it does have a sauna, hammam steam room, and Moroccan restaurant with breakfast buffet for a fee. Rooms offer Moroccan charm but are a little tired and need refurbishment, and past guests have experienced noise issues. The hotel is located about an eight-minute walk from the Casa Port train station and a 20-minute walk from the main entrance of the Old Medina. Travelers looking for a property with a pool could try the Casablanca Le Lido Thalasso & Spa, though rates are slightly higher.

Scene

Distinctive Moroccan interiors

Moroccan House has the atmosphere of a traditional riad and features
a distinctive Moroccan aesthetic in its interiors. Some guests may feel it's a
little over the top and "Arabian Nights" in its ambiance, but the hotel
does have an inviting look, with elements like Moorish arches, mosaic tile, Berber
rugs and painted doors, and rich colors of blue and red. Upon check-in guests
are given a warm Moroccan greeting with mint tea. Guests mainly gather in the sauna, steam room, and Moroccan restaurant. The hotel tends to draw business travelers and tourists, including families.

Location

Central Casablanca location near the tram and train, a 20-minute walk from the Old Medina

Located in the city center, Moroccan House Hotel is
off the busy Avenue des Far thoroughfare. Numerous restaurants and shops are
within walking distance. The hotel is a three-block walk to the Mohamed
Diouri tramway station and a five-minute walk to the Marche Central
tramway station. Casa Port Railway Station is an eight-minute walk away, and the N1 Road is a five-minute drive or 10-minute walk. United Nations Square is a 12-minute walk, and the main entrance of
the Old Medina medieval walled marketplace can be reached in 20 minutes on foot. The area with Place Mohammed V and its Art Deco buildings, Ligue Arabe
Park, Church of the Sacred Heart, and Abderrahman Slaoui Museum of Moroccan art
is a 20-minute walk or five-minute drive. AnfaPlace shopping center,
La Corniche beach area, and the Atlantic Ocean can all be reached in a 15-minute drive. Billed as the largest mosque in Africa and featuring a 689-foot
minaret, the Hassan II Mosque is a 30-minute walk or seven-minute drive from the hotel. Mohammed V
International Airport is a 45-minute drive away.

Rooms

Moroccan-style rooms with four-poster beds, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs

The 55 rooms at Moroccan House Hotel Casablanca are
situated on 10 floors. Rooms come with air-conditioning, minibars, in-room safes, free Wi-Fi, and TVs with a limited
number of satellite channels. Not all rooms have flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi
reception is sometimes spotty. The decor isn't overly fancy but they
have a colorful, thoroughly Moroccan feel and color schemes of
pink, yellow, light blue, and peach. Moroccan touches include four-poster canopy beds, Moroccan
art, Berber rugs, Moorish arches, and mosaic tiles. Suites have balconies and
sitting areas. Since the hotel building is quite old, some rooms may have
occasional issues related to electricity, hot water, and showers that flood the
bathroom. Also, rooms are a bit tired and could use a general freshening and
refurbishment, particularly to address issues like peeling paint, mold and dirt
in bathrooms, better and softer mattresses, and hot water issues.
Some street-facing rooms may experience noise from the traffic and honking
cars, and occasionally from a nightclub down the street. Bathrooms are spacious with good counter space, and come with bidets, toiletries, and wall-mounted hairdryers. Non-smoking rooms are available.

Features

Sauna, hammam steam room, and Moroccan restaurant with breakfast buffet

As a small city center hotel, the Moroccan House Hotel
has few on-site facilities, with no pool or fitness center. The hotel does
feature a sauna and hammam steam room. On-site massages, scrubs, and reflexology
are available for a fee. The restaurant serves an ample breakfast buffet (for
a fee), including hot eggs, cereal, cheeses, pastries, fruit, coffee, and
juice. Traditional Moroccan cuisine is available for lunch and dinner, with a
five-course nightly special menu. The hotel also has a 24-hour front desk, meeting
rooms, concierge services, and parking for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but the signal can be spotty.
