Scene

Structured stone building with beautiful patios for lovely hillside views

Vineyard Cave Hotel may not have the convoluted charm of some cave hotels in Gorem, which can look like they grew organically out of the rock. But it is housed in a handsome stone building featuring wide, sunny patios adorned with potted
plants and a breakfast room
with a large picture window overlooking the valley. There’s also a large roof
deck with a cloth tent for shade, which offers tables and chairs for visitors
to enjoy the spectacular hillside views. The venue’s exterior is also a fine
example of stone masonry, with classically styled windows and accents abounding.

Location

Slightly to the northwest of town, about a seven-minute walk to the center

The hotel enjoys an elevated vantage point
above Goreme and, being set slightly apart from many of the surrounding buildings,
receives a lot of sun on its various patios. It's about a seven-minute walk to
the town center and, as with most properties in Goreme, the owners will come
pick guests up from the bus station with advance notice. An array of sights, shops,
bars, and eateries are within walking distance as well, including Koy Evi and
Dibek restaurants and a couple of open-air museums. Airport transfers to and from Nevsehir, about an hour’s
drive northwest, can be arranged for a fee.

Rooms

Slightly plain but charming, with some spaces carved into rock

Vineyard
Cave's relatively spacious guest rooms offer individualized styles united by neutral palettes and a down-to-earth elegance. Some units are
carved into the hillside rock while others have a more traditional boxy shape,
with the latter generally featuring domed ceilings. Individual decorations include
floor pillows arranged for sitting, decorative glass lamps, colored tiles set
into the wall, and traditional textiles. Some spaces have tiled walk-in stone
showers serving as their own separate room; others have whirlpool baths set into stalls. All rooms have mini-fridges (no alcohol), electric kettles, and small
flat-screen TVs.

Features

Rooftop patio and sunny breakfast room along with free Wi-Fi

Amenities
at the Vineyard Cave are generally on the limited side. Nonetheless, many
guests have commented on the high quality of the breakfast and the big sunny
room in which it is served. For outdoor lounging, a large rooftop deck is set with cafe tables,
cushioned benches, and chairs. A computer has been set aside for guest
use while free Wi-Fi and parking are also available, as is laundry service.
