Bottom Line

The luxurious Cappadocia Cave Resort & Spa offers gorgeous panoramic views over Goreme National Park from its hilltop setting, as well as being within walking distance of restaurants and the Uchisar Castle. Besides the views, a standout feature here is the hotel's spa, which has adventure baths, massages, a hammam, and a steam room, and there are also an indoor and outdoor pool. A varied menu is available at the on-site restaurant, plus breakfast is included in rates. The 121 guest rooms feature classic Ottoman decor including stone walls and carved furniture, alongside modern touches such as flat-screen TVs and minibars, but some bathrooms are small and only equipped with stall showers. The nearby Kayakapi Premium Caves - Cappadocia is a comparable property, though its spa facilities aren't as extensive.

Scene

Top-notch luxury hotel with classic Ottoman decor

Cappadocia Cave Resort & Spa is a hotel under the Small Luxury Hotels brand that seamlessly blends classic Ottoman style with modern extras and stunning valley views. Widespread Ottoman elements include light stone walls, arched windows, decorative stone door frames, and ceramic decor accents. The grounds have a grand yet rustic vibe, which is paralleled inside with elegant dark wood, leather furniture, and stylish wood-paneled ceilings, while touches such as the freeform outdoor pool and terrace with glass partitions give the property a modern feel. The hotel's hilltop setting plus layered cave architecture is designed to allow good views from most rooms. Though the reception and lobby area are a bit small, the other public spaces are quite large, especially the massive spa area. Overall, it's a top pick with a privileged location and remarkable views that attract leisure tourists -- both couples and families.

Location

Set at the very top of a hill with unrivaled panoramic views over the valley

The hotel is located at the very top of Cappadocia in Uchisar, on the edge of Goreme National Park, offering stunning, uninterrupted panoramic views across six different regional districts. The hotel is within walking distance of the town's small marketplace, restaurants, and Uchisar Castle. It's also a convenient base for exploring the region; Goreme is just an eight-minute drive from here, while the Goreme Open Air Museum and the 11th-century Al Nazar Church are about 10 minutes away. Pasabag and Zelve can be reached in about 13 minutes by car, while Avanos and Urgup are a 15- to 20-minute drive. In about a 40-minute drive travelers can reach the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymakli, as well as Nevsehir Airport. Kayseri Erkilet Airport will take just over an hour.

Rooms

Luxe rooms with classic Ottoman stylings, comfy beds, minibars, and most with outdoor space

The hotel's 121 rooms and suites are designed to mimic the natural cave-carved rooms the region is famous for, featuring rustic elements such as stone walls and exposed wood beams, coupled with handsome wooden furniture, elegant fabrics, and grand architectural arches in some. Standard amenities consist of air-conditioning, large flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles. Additionally, all units except for Budget Rooms have a private balcony or terrace -- most with views over the valley. Bathrooms aren't nearly as elegant as the rest of the spaces, plus many are small and only have stall showers. However, they're all equipped with modern fixtures, bowl sinks, and a variety of L'Occitane products, as well as bathrobes and slippers. Some have shower/tub combos or separate showers and tubs. Suites add jetted tubs, dedicated sitting areas, and panoramic valley views over Cappadocia. Suites may also be outfitted with round beds, fireplaces, and private swimming pools. A four-bedroom villa sleeping up to eight people is also available.

All-Inclusive / Food

International cuisine, a small bar and wine cellar, and 24-hour bistro

Padishah Restaurant serves breakfast (included in rates), lunch, and dinner, offering a menu of Turkish, European, and Asian fare, including Hindi, Japanese, and Chinese a la carte menus. Here you'll find large picture windows, velvet cushioned chairs, and white tablecloths. The Terrace Cafe and Bar is an open-air spot that's open daily and serves snacks and drinks to guests hanging out by the outdoor pool or lounging on the terrace. For those visiting during the winter months, the Les Visages Bistro is open 24 hours and has heated floors, a barbecue (for both indoor and outdoor purposes), and fantastic views. Sarap Mahzeni is the hotel's cave wine cellar with Turkish and international wines, plus it offers tastings.

Features

Large, impressive spa with adventure shower, gym, pools, and hammams

The standout feature here is the large, state-of-the-art -- and free entry -- spa. Here, you'll find a treasure trove of relaxing spots, from typical massage and steam rooms, to a gym, indoor pool, and adventure shower. The hotel's memorable adventure shower gives guests the mock experience of several shower settings by using a plant and rock design with different audio and visual effects; guests can chose to shower in a rainstorm, jungle, or other setting. The Turkish bath room is large, made up of white marble and sensual artwork. The indoor pool area is large and includes a heated pool suitable for kids, while the gym is small but filled with contemporary machines and lots of natural light. There's also a heated outdoor pool with lovely views over the valley.Other amenities include free Wi-Fi throughout the property (though there have been some complaints of poor signals in some rooms), as well as a shuttle bus service into town (for a fee). Butler and babysitting services are available for a fee. Permit parking is available along the street.
