Bottom Line

This small, upscale boutique
hotel is in a quiet,
residential area that's within a 15-minute walk of downtown attractions. The owners
and staff offer personalized service for their guests and are always more
than happy to recommend and book trips, tours, restaurants, and taxis. Each room is individually designed to have a luxurious but homey feel, though TVs and radios are only provided upon request. There’s no swimming pool or spa (both of which can be found at 2Inn1), but there are thoughtful extras such as wine tasting evenings and an exceptional (included) five-course
breakfast.

Scene

Elegant and luxurious, yet homey

This eight-room
property began as two Victorian houses, which have been joined together and renovated
to make one exceptional guesthouse. Parker Cottage has homey, carefully curated style,
with eclectic antiques and elegant furnishings. The lounge rooms provide the
perfect place to relax with comfortable sofas, fireplaces, and a piano. The
large sash windows and sunny yellow walls make these communal areas light and
bright. High ceilings, wooden floors and original features throughout give the
property a grand feel, without being imposing. The comfort of the guesthouse, along
with the personal attention given by the owners, provides a real home away from home atmosphere.

Location

In a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of downtown

Parker Cottage is on a quiet side street in a residential area, but it's still within walking distance of the the city center and many attractions. It's a five-minute walk to the shops and restaurants on Kloof Street, a 10-minute walk to the nightlife on Long Street, and a three-minute walk to the renowned Miller’s Thumb fish restaurant. It’s also a short walk to the hop-on,
hop-off bus stop which is handy for getting around the city. To get to the
waterfront is a five-minute taxi ride, and the airport is a 30-minute journey.

Rooms

Homey, individually decorated rooms with Victorian influences

Every room in this property
is different. Each has been thoughtfully designed by the owners and is
comfortable and homey, with elegant touches such as chandeliers and ornate
mirrors. The Nguni room gives a glimpse of Table Mountain from the window,
while the Fitzroy has an enormous king-size four-poster bed. Many of the
rooms have working fireplaces and lots of the bathrooms feature large, freestanding
bathtubs. Parker Cottage is not a full-service hotel, so you won't find a minibar or coffee machine in your room, and if you want a TV or radio you'll need to request it. There is free Wi-Fi available, though.

Features

Lots of thoughtful extras, including wine tasting evenings and a fabulous breakfast

The hotel provides unique features
that keep guests coming back time and time again. The regular wine tasting
evenings are free of charge and a great opportunity to meet people and sample
some local wines. Guests have access to the kitchen and are welcome to help
themselves any time to free tea and coffee, and there’s an honesty bar for those who fancy something a little stronger. Included in the room charge is an extravagant
five-course breakfast. It’s cooked to order and offers a huge variety of food
including many local specialities. There is a small garden which is well maintained,
and the hotel also provides monitored parking and free use of its computer.
