Bottom Line

Owned by a couple, The Queen Victoria is a beautiful, mid-range B&B in Cape May with 30 rooms in four picturesque homes. Decorated with charming antique furnishings, the hotel has an excellent location as well -- it’s a short walk to the beach and Washington Street Mall. A tasty breakfast buffet and afternoon tea and snack service are served daily. Queen Victoria has bicycles guests can borrow and outdoor showers for cleaning off after a day at the beach. Another nearby option, Avondale by the Sea, is directly across the street from the ocean, but it’s not a charming B&B.

Scene

Picturesque hotel with beautiful porches and parlors

The hotel has many charming spaces indoors and out reminiscent of a quieter time. Guests are given codes for antique-inspired door locks to enter their Victorian-themed rooms. In the winter, a fireplace in the parlor creates an intimate vibe. A wooden stand holds green umbrellas to use when it rains. A white swing on one of the lovely front porches gives guests a spot to relax and take in the manicured lawn, iron fencing, and flowers adding to the pretty landscaping. The long, wooden table in the dining room and the wrought-iron tables and chairs outside provide a place to enjoy breakfast or afternoon tea.

Location

On tree-lined street that's a short walk to the beach

With the entirety of Cape May declared a historic landmark, The Queen Victoria is on a tree-lined street next to the city library and near several other bed and breakfasts. The location is convenient; it’s both a short walk to the beach and to Washington Street Mall, the area's main shopping and dining strip. Other venues like the Cape May Day Spa and town convention hall are also nearby.

Rooms

Charming details and antique decor with free Wi-Fi

Patterned wallpaper, needlepoint pillows, quilts, and bedside hurricane lamps are just some of the charming details guests will find inside the rooms. The antique decor is unique in each space, with color schemes that range from pale pastels to bold reds and greens. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, TVs with DVD players, and mini-fridges. Premium rooms are available with extra features like private entrances, hot tubs, fireplaces, and porches.

Features

Outdoor showers and free buffet breakfast, with beach towels and bikes available too
