Bottom Line

Snug Cottage is a quaint B&B with an excellent location and some great perks. The eight rooms are rustic and cozy, and feature fireplaces as well as modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi. Free afternoon treats such as wine, lemonade, and cookies, a delicious free daily breakfast -- and free parking in Provincetown (a rarity) -- make this a stand-out option. But even though it's just one block from busy Commercial Street, peace and quiet reign here -- so party people may want to look elsewhere for a place to crash.

Scene

Relaxed, rustic setting in the heart of Provincetown

Built in 1825, Snug Cottage retains the feel of a 19th century inn, while still offering standard luxuries of the modern age, like Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and iPod docks. The decor reflects its historical nature -- this is a rustic country lodge rather than a chic beach inn) -- but it’s comfortable.Guests can often be found hanging out enjoying a glass of wine or lemonade in the afternoon in the common room, or sitting outside at the bistro-style tables overlooking quiet Bradford Street.

Location

On a quiet side street, just one block from Commerical Street -- the main drag of P-town

Snug Cottage is located on Bradford Street, just a block away from Commercial Street, Provincetown’s own version of “Main Street.” It's a great spot, since being a bit tucked away means even rooms facing the street are quiet -- yet guests need only venture out a few steps to get to the action. The inn is also just about a 15-minute walk to the pier.Provincetown is one of the Cape’s hottest destinations for gay and lesbian travelers, but there is plenty here for straight travelers, as well. Home to America’s first art colony, art lovers looking for original artwork will find plenty of galleries, exhibits and shops to browse. In town, it’s best to just ditch the car and either walk or rent a bike from one of the local shops because there is very little parking, and it can be difficult, if not impossible, to drive down a road when there are tons of people walking in the middle of the street. In addition to a thriving art scene, Provincetown has tons of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and theater to explore. Those looking to converse with nature can check out Herring Cove, one of the most popular (albeit rocky) beaches in town. And for sunsets, you can’t beat Race Point. Provincetown Harbor is just down the street from the inn, although it isn’t the prettiest of the local beaches.- 20-minute flight from Boston via Cape Air, which flies into Provincetown Municipal Airport

  • 3-hour drive from Boston Logan International Airport
  • 105-minute ride by public transport from Boston (subway plus ferry)
  • 2-minute walk to Commercial Street for restaurants, shops, and galleries
  • 5-minute drive to local beaches
  • 20-minute drive to Wellfleet (which has a cool drive-in movie theater)

Rooms

Cozy rooms with simple decor and modern amenities

Each of the eight rooms at the Snug is decorated uniquely, but they share some commonalities -- like the rustic decor with wood furnishings, floral wallpaper and bedspreads, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi. Each room also has a wood-burning fireplace, ceiling fan, and air conditioning. Some guests may find the decor charmingly antique in style; others may see it as outdated.- Wood-burning fireplaces

  • A.C. and ceiling fans
  • Aveda bath products and fluffy robes
  • Flat-screen TVs with DVD player
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • iPod docks
  • Some rooms have mini-fridges, kitchenettes, and/or a garden and harbor view

Features

Free parking is a big bonus.

  • Free parking, one car per room
  • Free in-room Wi-Fi, with a computer available for guests in the common room
  • Free homemade daily breakfast buffet
  • Wine, lemonade, and cookies in the afternoon
  • Loaner umbrellas
