In business since 1963, this laid-back family-run motel is a two-story, motor court property where guests can park right in front of their rooms. Friendly and casual, it's the type of place where guests can frequently be found sitting outside their rooms on plastic chairs, chatting and taking in the views of Hyannis Harbor across the street. With two popular restaurants adjacent to the motel, the road swarms with tourists. Inside, the cozy lobby is chock full of brochures promoting all the Cape Cod attractions. It’s decorated with maps, photos, and paintings of the Cape. A portrait of local hero John F. Kennedy hangs on the wall behind the marble-top front desk. The two pools get busy, especially in the afternoon. The outdoor pool has loungers and covered tables, where guests can kick back and take in the sea breezes off the harbor. Throughout the property, decor is outdated, but the motel still has homey appeal.

The Hyannis Holiday Motel sits directly across from Hyannis Harbor. It's about a five-minute walk to the ferry terminal, the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, and the restaurants, shops, and pubs on Main Street. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is a seven-minute walk from the hotel. Veteran's Park Beach is a 13-minute walk away, and Kalmus Park Beach is a five-minute drive. Provincetown is about an hour's drive. Barnstable Municipal Airport is a seven-minute drive, and it’s a 90-minute drive to Boston Logan International Airport and T.F. Green International Airport in Rhode Island.

Hyannis Holiday Motel's 72 rooms are no-frills affairs, but they're spacious and well-maintained, with new bedding and carpeting, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi, some of the premium rooms add mini-fridges. All have outdoor sitting areas. Despite these perks, rooms still have a dated, dark look. Plain white walls and speckled gray or blue carpeting set a slightly seafaring palette. Beds bump up the nautical theme with shell-printed duvets and striped pillows, and beach prints on the wall further enhance the look. Rooms lack closets, but wall-mounted steel racks with hangers provide a spot for clothes. Options include rooms with two double beds, and single kings, with Harborview upgrades available. (Standard Rooms overlook the parking lot.) Harborview Suites have two bedrooms, while the Standard Suites have one bedroom and sleeper sofas. Bathrooms are on the small side, with white or light-brown wall tile surrounding the shower/tub combos. Floors have newer-looking beige tiling, and wall-mounted white ceramic sinks serve as vanities. Wall-mounted hairdryers are provided.

Hyannis Holiday Motel is a budget property with limited features. Aside from its location, stand-out amenities include indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool, which is heated, and its sundeck overlook Hyannis Harbor. A continental breakfast of cereal, pastries, and juices is included in the rates -- seating in the small dining room can be tough at peak times, but outside seating is available. Vending machines sell drinks. On-site parking and Wi-Fi are free, and the motel has a computer with Internet access for guests' use. The hotel sells tickets for ferries and other activities at a discount.
