The 57-room Cape Colony Inn is a pleasantly designed mid-range property located two blocks from the beach with outdoor amenities that include barbecue grills, lawn sports activities, and a lovely outdoor pool. A free breakfast is served in the lobby breakfast lounge, but there's no full restaurant. Beach-themed rooms feature Cape Cod photography, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and microwaves, plus suites have wet bars and large refrigerators. Guests should note that ground floor rooms can get noise from the floor above and that the location is not within walking distance of downtown, though it's a short drive away. Travelers that want to be closer to the action could consider Surfside Hotel & Suites, which is directly on the beach and right on Commercial Street.
Scene
Mid-range hotel with fresh, beachy interiors and a grassy picnic area
White clapboard siding, blue shutters, and outdoor hallways give the Cape Colony Inn a typical motel appearance. Rooms are spread out over three buildings on the property, two of which face the outdoor parking lot. Inside, clean and stylish interiors are awash in soft hues, while seascape photos and light wood floors give the lobby and breakfast area a beachy feel. The hotel is open seasonally and has a lovely, grassy outdoor picnic and recreation area for the summer months. This inn attracts a mixed bag of guests including couples, families, and also solo travelers, and much like Provincetown itself, there's a large LGBT clientele.
Location
Located two blocks from the beach, but not within walking distance of downtown
Situated in a residential area of P-town, the inn is two blocks from the beach and one block from Commercial Street, but it’s about a 25-minute walk (or a five-minute drive) to the happening downtown scene that's full of bars, galleries, shops, and restaurants. Immediately surrounding the hotel are a couple of art galleries, and less than five minutes on foot is the Provincetown Theater. The Pilgrim Monument is a five-minute drive. The Provincetown Municipal Airport takes 10 minutes by car, while Boston Logan International Airport is over two hours away. Provincetown Harbor, with charter boat trips and cruises, is a 10-minute drive.
Rooms
Clean, beach-themed rooms have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and Keurig coffeemakers
Decorated in light blue fabrics and Cape Cod photography, the hotel's 57 rooms have an inviting, beachy vibe. Many rooms have comfy Simmons pillow-top mattresses on king or queen beds. Bathrooms have walk-in showers or shower/tub combos and external sinks. The layout of suites varies; some have beds in two rooms, while others are one-bedrooms with separate living rooms that have sofa beds, wet bars, and large refrigerators. The soundproofing is inadequate, however, so ground floor rooms can get noise from upstairs. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, irons/ironing boards, hairdryers, mini-fridges, microwaves, and Keurig coffeemakers.
Features

Adirondack chairs sit around a fire pit, and there are various lawn games, including two shuffleboards, beanbag toss games, a Ping-Pong table, and a volleyball court. There's also a heated outdoor pool surrounded by a large sundeck with lounge chairs and shaded tables. Free breakfast is served in the lobby breakfast lounge and includes make-your-own Belgian waffles, yogurt, coffee, fruit, pastries, and other morning treats. There's a business corner with a computer and printer in the lobby as well. Loaner beach chairs, depending on availability, can be borrowed from the front desk. Wi-Fi and parking are free.
