Best Western Cape Cod Hotel

Renovated in mid-2016, this two-story red-brick Best Western has natural stone columns that give it a modern look. Stone is a decorative theme, seen again at the front desk with black-granite counters. Gray-and-gold carpeting graces the handsome laminate floors, creating a seating area with matching armchairs and a navy sofa, and a large mural of sailboats bobbing on the aqua-blue harbor. A spacious breakfast area, with several wood tables, upholstered chairs, and a flat-screen TV mounted on a stone wall, abuts the lobby. The indoor pool is  bright and airy, with portal windows on the second floor and waves painted along a wall. Clientele tend to be families and couples drawn by the inexpensive rates and fresh look.

This Best Western is located in a mostly commercial area of Hyannis, but thanks to being surrounded by trees, it manages to be relatively peaceful and quiet. A few restaurants are within a five-minute walk of the hotel, but there's not much else within strolling distance. A grocery store and more restaurants are within one-minute drive, and Hyannis’ Main Street and the Cape Cod Mall are about a five-minute drive from the property. The ferry departure point at Hyannis Harbor for Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are about a 10-minute drive away. Several beaches, including Craigville and Kalmus Park Beach, are about a 10- to 15-minute drive. Getting to Provincetown, at the tip of the Cape, takes about an hour. Barnstable Municipal Airport is an eight-minute drive, Boston Logan International Airport is about a 75-minute drive, and T.F. Green International Airport in Rhode Island is a 90-minute drive. 

Renovations swept through the guest rooms in mid-2016, replacing carpeting, furniture, bedding, and mattresses with fresh, new versions. The result is tasteful, if a bit dark, with deep tobacco-brown dominating the decor balanced by dashes of gold. Brown-and-tan carpeting in energetic stripes echoes the wood furniture in an ebony veneer. Nightstands and dressers are capped in tan-granite tops. Flecks of gold can be spotted on bolster pillows, bed throws, and drapes, and accent walls are painted a rich marigold. All rooms include microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. About half of the rooms overlook the nearby Shallow Pond, while the others face the courtyard and grounds. Little, square granite vanities have been placed outside the bathrooms, which are small and somewhat dated, despite new gray laminate floors and white tiling around the shower/tub combos. Rooms have single king or two double beds, with king rooms adding upholstered armchairs. While rooms are generally well-maintained, some past guests have complained about stained sheets and dirty carpeting -- even post-renovation. 

The Best Western Cape Cod Hotel was renovated in mid-2016, putting it a step above many other budget hotels on Cape Cod. The heated indoor pool is spacious and surrounded by loungers, tables, and a roomy whirlpool. The hotel also has a sauna and fitness room with cardio- and weight-lifting equipment. Its free continental breakfast includes hot items such as waffles, while coffee, tea, and popcorn are available all day. Parking is free, as is Wi-Fi. There is a small meeting room and a guest laundry room. The business center has two computer stations with internet access and a printer, and the front desk has a safe-deposit box for guests' valuables. Deck seating, added in the renovation, is at the back of the hotel.
