Bottom Line

The Radisson Resort at the Port is a 284-room mid-range hotel
located a few minutes' drive from beautiful beaches and Port Canaveral. The proximity to Cocoa Beach and the cruise terminals at Port Canaveral make this hotel a great choice for
pre-cruise guests and beach-lovers. The hotel has an impressive water park-style pool with a poolside Tiki Bar, making it fun for children and adults alike. Guest rooms are clean and cozy, with flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Many of the rooms have outdated decor and somewhat unappealing views. This hotel's rates are cheaper than those
of nearby properties such as Residence
Inn Cape
Canaveral Cocoa Beach and Country Inn & Suites By
Carlson.

Scene

Tropical grounds bustling with families and cruise-goers

The Radisson Resort at the Port is a three-story hotel made up of multiple pink stucco buildings with white trim and green roofs. The lobby, while bright and spacious, is pretty underwhelming decor-wise, with dated blue leather seats, cream-colored walls, and pink and blue floor tiles. More appealing are the cheerful, well-kept grounds -- tropical landscaping and koi fish ponds lead to a large family-friendly pool area with a brick deck in the center of the property. The pool has a lovely free-form design with waterfalls and giant red rocks for a private oasis feel. A hot tub and Tiki Bar serving cocktails are also located poolside. The on-site restaurant, Flamingo's, feels something like a tiki bar, with its pitched wood roof, wood ceiling fans, and rattan chairs. The restaurant's green carpeting and beach-themed wall art, however, feel dated. Guests are typically families and cruise-goers, who tend to flock to the pool area.

Location

On a busy road, minutes from cruise terminals and beaches

Set on a busy, four-lane road lined with hotels and fast-food restaurants, the Radisson Resort at the Port is located less than five minutes by car from Port Canaveral and the Cocoa Beach Pier, leading to a string of beaches. Sidney Fisher Park and Lori Wilson Park are both within about an eight-minute drive of the hotel, and are good places for Cocoa Beach visitors to park. Cocoa Beach Parasail is a few minutes' drive away, and both Calema Windsurfing School and Victory Casino Cruises are within a five-minute drive. Kennedy Space Center and the Astronaut Hall of Fame are both about 20 to 25 minutes away. The hotel will arrange for shuttles to the airport, and offers its own shuttles to and from cruise ship terminals for a small fee. Both Melbourne and Orlando International Airports are about 40 minutes away.

Rooms

Cozy and clean, but no views and basic decor

The Standard rooms are decorated simply with pale yellow walls, dark wood furnishings, and dark blue carpeting offset by tropical wall art and pineapple lamps. While the style is lacking, the soft lighting and comfortable Sleep Number beds (in many rooms) lend a cozy vibe. All rooms also have coffeemakers and flat-screen TVs, with mini-fridges and microwaves available on request. Some Deluxe Suites have kitschy pink walls and somewhat tacky floral curtains, and all have microwaves, mini-fridges, whirlpool tubs, and sofas with pullout beds. Bathrooms have beige tile floors and walls, granite countertops, and shower/tub combos. Room quality varies -- some guests complain of shoddy air-conditioning and plumbing. All rooms have free Wi-Fi.

Features

Heated pool with a waterfall, on-site restaurant, and a poolside Tiki Bar

The main feature here is the heated outdoor pool, with its fun waterfalls and striking red rock setting -- along with the poolside Tiki Bar and hot tub. Flamingo’s restaurant serves Caribbean-flavored dishes alongside American classics. Also located on the property are private lighted tennis courts, and a fully equipped -- quite cramped -- fitness center with a few cardio machines and free weights. There is also a game room with arcade-style games, and a business center with three PCs and a printer. Special to this property are its 15 separate meeting rooms offering 30,000 square-feet of space, including a Grand Ballroom and a pavilion. This hotel also offers special park-and-cruise packages allowing guests to park at the hotel while they are away on a cruise. Freebies include parking, Wi-Fi, and newspapers in the lobby. Unlike many nearby properties, this property is pet-friendly.
