Scene
Modern adults-only property with sea-inspired decor and relaxing atmosphere
Opened in November 2018, Iberostar Cancun Star Prestige is the adults-only sister hotel to next-door Iberostar Cancun. The beachfront 14-floor tower is sleek and modern, with ample windows to take in the ocean views and stylish furniture. Ample ocean-inspired elements include boat wall hangings, vibrant coral headboards, and nautical knot decor, plus there are natural wood slabs and lots of blue paint. A lobby bar has indoor seating with low-key live music at night and a swish outdoor terrace, and one floor below are the main attractions: the big beachfront, ocean-view pool, and restaurant. Music and entertainment from the adjacent Seadust Cancun Family Resort can be intrusive, but generally the hotel is peaceful and relaxing. Unfortunately, because the Star Prestige tower guests must go to the Iberostar Cancun building for the spa, gym, and most of the dining options, kids will likely be encountered. Golf cart service between hotels is available. Guests here tend to be young couples. Due to the wedding gazebo on-site, this is a great pick for ceremonies, allowing couples and families to stay at both sections of the property. however, romancing guests wanting to completely avoid children may prefer the Hyatt Zilara Cancun, though rates are more expensive.
Location
Beautiful beach setting removed from Hotel Zone
The Iberostar Cancun Star Prestige has a wonderful oceanfront location, with a big section of soft white sand abutting turquoise waters. It's about a 14-minute drive south of the bustling Hotel Zone, allowing for a more peaceful atmosphere. However, travelers wanting to go out to popular nightlife spots such as Coco Bongo may find the location inconvenient. Guests will arrive to the main Iberostar Cancun entrance, and then be taken by golf cart to the Star Prestige tower. The Iberostar Golf Club Cancun is just across the road, reachable via golf cart service through a tunnel. Cancun International Airport is roughly 15 to 20 minutes away by car.
Rooms
Big rooms with whirlpool-equipped balconies, rainfall showers, and espresso machines
The 156 rooms here are all modern and stylish, outfitted in a similar design as the rest of the property. Beige marble floors, white wood furniture with curved elements, and pops of blue and red in bed runners, vibrant coral-motif headboards, and algae artwork combine to create a serene and posh look. The highlight of each room is undoubtedly the ocean-view balcony with a whirlpool, table, and chairs. Indoor amenities consist of dining tables, sofa beds, Bluetooth speakers, comfy double or king-size beds, espresso machines, and minibars with beer, soda, juice, and water. Flat-screen TVs have a variety of channels and resort information, but we found them buggy and were never able to access room service information. Free Wi-Fi is provided.Bathrooms have big rainfall showers also with handheld showerheads, separate toilet cabins, dual sinks, scales, and a plethora of L'Occitane toiletries, bug spray, dental kits, and shaving kits. Closets come with laptop-sized electronic safes, robes, and umbrellas, but slippers aren't provided, which is surprising for a hotel of this caliber with marble floors. Corner suites add additional outdoor space, while rooftop units have plunge pools.
Features

In the pool area is a snack bar serving casual fare such as hot dogs and guacamole, while closer to the Iberostar Cancun property is an open Beach Club bar with sofa seating and a cocktail menu. Music at the pool is soft, but to the left of the property is the entertainment-filled Seadust Cancun Family Resort, and music and activities there can be heard. A wedding gazebo is on-site.Just inside from the pool is La Barca, Star Prestige's only restaurant. It serves tasty and varied buffets for breakfast and lunch, while dinners are upmarket a la carte dishes with an emphasis on seafood. Room service is available 24/7, however, no breakfast dishes are available, which means guests will have to go downstairs for breakfast or order non-breakfast fare.
