Food can be on pricey side
While not all-inclusive, to which many guests attribute the resort's quiet atmosphere, the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Resort & Spa has three restaurants; three poolside bars, including a swim-up bar; and a lobby bar. While the restaurants are deemed to be on the pricey side, guests give them high marks for the food -- one specializes in seafood, while the other two feature Mexican cuisine and French Mediterranean fare. The extensive and beautifully designed spa, billed as the only in Latin America with a 10-step hydrotherapy program, is a big draw.
Scene
Popular with families with young children, and those seeking a quieter Cancun experience
The resort appeals to families, and those who seek the proximity of Cancun nightlife. The lack of all-inclusive options makes for a more low-key atmosphere than that of some neighboring resorts. The building's exterior evokes a bit of Miami in the '80s, but the inside is beautifully updated with marble surfaces, and undulating wood-paneled ceilings in the spa; a light-filled lobby atrium with a stained glass skylight and pothouse plants spilling over the balconies anchors several towers housing a total of 602 rooms. Many have noted that even when the hotel is full, the atmosphere here is calm because the common spaces are ample. Traditional Mariachi singers often perform in the lobby as the sun sets.
Location
At the northern tip of Cancun’s Hotel Zone
The property is a half-hour drive from Cancun International Airport, and a 20-minute drive into town. It is within walking distance of other hotels and restaurants. It's one and a half miles from the Plaza Forum, Plaza Flamingo, and La Isla Mall.
Rooms
Simple, design-oriented furnishings in modern suites with marble floors
Furnishings are not fancy here but are updated, and the rooms are airy because of the large windows. Most suites offer full or partial ocean views. Dark wood accents complement neutral-toned sectional couches and jewel-toned throws and pillows. Most rooms have balconies; larger suites have whirlpool baths and large walk-in showers. Some offer private check-in, snacks, and drinks. The luxurious Governor Suite has a reception area, in addition to a living and dining area. All have air-conditioning, minibars, coffeemakers, toiletries, TVs with premium channels, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are spacious with walk-in areas for vanities and sinks.
Features
A modern, 10-step hydrotherapy spa and large outdoor pool are major draws.
Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach bills itself as the only resort in Latin America with a spa consisting of 10 separate water treatments, including a “sensations” pool brimming with bubbles, an aromatherapy steam room, a clay steam room, ice room, sauna, rain shower, whirlpool, polar pool, and more. The property also has a large infinity pool with a swim-up bar, and it is located next to a motorized water sport facility with plenty of activity options. A few have complained that the breakfast buffet is not available to children, but the resort does cater to kids' needs in the day with group activities, including sand castle building and seashell hunts. The property also boasts a large fitness center overlooking the beach, as well as three restaurants and several bars.
