The 83-room Hotel Le Palme is set in a peaceful location on a country road outside the town of Paestum, about 300 meters from the Tyrrhenian Sea and buffered from the water by a pine forest. The style is consistent with typical Italian countryside offerings: nothing too fancy, and some would say plain, but definitely pleasant. There are a huge pool, tennis courts, and playground on-site, along with a lovely beach and beach bar. A car is recommended for exploring the surrounding area.
Scene
Simple beach hotel
The rooms at Hotel Le Palme are housed in long, four-story white stucco, 80s-style buildings set slightly back from a country road. Trimmed grass and miniature palm trees line stone-paved pathways connecting the various buildings, the tennis courts, and the outdoor shaded patio with tables and chairs. An ample lobby tiled in marble is set with a marble-topped front desk, a few leather couches, and some oil paintings of Paestum. The vibe is 80s beach-aesthetic. The pool area, with dark, tight-weave wicker chairs and canvas umbrellas, is slightly more updated than the rest of the property. The hotel is popular with families with young children; the entertainment at night is geared towards the latter.
Location
Half a mile from the beach and buffered by a pine forest
Le Palme is set along a country road about two and a half miles from the modern town of Paestum, which is accessible from the hotel via public bus; however, the trip is long (45 minutes) and requires walking. Most who stay here recommend a car, which is also convenient for visiting the nearest major point of attraction, the archaeological site of Paestum, which consists of an ancient Greek temple surrounded by Roman ruins.
Rooms
Simple rooms in neutral tones, with outdated decor and bedspreads
The rooms here are plain, with no decor to adorn dark wood laminate furniture, faded floral bedspreads, and the simple ceramic tile floors. Most guests have reported satisfaction with the cleanliness of the rooms and the comfort of the beds. All rooms have balconies with a towel-drying rack, air-conditioning, a tiny, wall-mounted flat-screen TV, heating, a safe, a mini-fridge, and a hairdryer.
Features
Large outdoor pool and pleasant beach area, both equipped with a bar, plus a business center
A pool large enough for laps is flanked by a pleasant bar and seating area with comfortable wicker chairs. Light snacks are available at the beach bar; drinks are available both beachside and poolside. The hotel maintains a beach area with a toilet and showers. The nighttime entertainment is primarily geared towards young children. There are a playground and tennis courts on-site.
