Within walking distance of the shops and restaurants
of Marina da Camerota, Cala Blanca Resort is a rustic, value hotel with 18 rooms, including wooden bungalows that are available from
April through September and apartments with kitchenettes that stay open year-round. The
hotel has a restaurant serving regional cuisine and a bar, as well as a semi-open breakfast room. The beach is a short walk away, but note that a fee is imposed to cover the cost of lounge chair rentals, umbrellas, and activities at the
beach, all of which provided by a separate company.
Scene
Natural, rustic surroundings near the beach
A brick path leads up a hill to charming (from the outside) wooden cabins surrounded by
trees, flowering bushes, and short stone walls. A pale yellow building houses
the separate apartments, which have tile patios. An open-air bar and breakfast room
with cushioned wicker couches and chairs provide a spot for guests to enjoy the
fresh air under a wooden roof. Additional tables and chairs are available on
the patio space outside. It’s a short walk to the beach, where a separate
company, Playa el Flamingo, organizes activities
including water aerobics and dancing, and offers canoes, kayaks, and paddle
boat rentals. There's also a beachside bar and restaurant as well as chairs and parasols, although guests must pay a separate club fee to access the beach and its amenities. Overall, this is a budget property that appeals to those seeking a camping vibe.
Location
Surrounded by trees, within walking distance of the beach and village
Cala
Blanca Resort is within a five-minute walk of the beach and it's less than 10 minutes to the center of Marina di Camerota, where visitors can find shops,
restaurants, and ice cream. Cape Palinuro is about a half-hour drive away; from here, travelers can take a boat tour to see impressive sea caves and a secluded beach. Naples and its international airport both take two hours and forty minutes to reach by car.
Rooms
Apartments (open year round) with modern features and wooden bungalows open seasonally
There are two room types at the Cala Blanca: seasonal bungalows (open April through September) and year-round apartments. Both room types have flat-screen TVs and air conditioners, and can sleep up to four. Bungalows are charming wooden cabins with
mini-fridges, furnished tile patios, and small bathrooms. The showers aren't enclosed, making
for wet bathroom floors. The apartments are open throughout the year and have kitchenettes with
sinks and stoves and bathrooms with curtained-in showers. Overall, the decor is minimal -- adding to the camping vibe.
Features
Pretty outdoor areas, plus a restaurant, bar, and free breakfast
For guests who don't want to make the trek down to the beach (or take the free shuttle), the hotel has a big, outdoor swimming pool with a pool
bar. There’s also a pizzeria on the property and shops
selling souvenirs, clothing, and toiletries. The hotel has a spa with a sauna and a
fitness center with several benches and free weights. An outdoor relaxation
pool is available, but guests have to make a reservation. There are archery, tennis, and soccer
areas, and a kids' club with animation teams guiding activities. The on-site restaurant serves regional cuisine and a free continental breakfast is available every morning in a separate semi-open breakfast room.
