The three-building complex exudes a casual elegance, with an impressive main lobby and lovely grounds. All of its 205 condos have kitchens, balconies, and fireplaces, and standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, microwaves, coffeemakers, and bathrooms with robes and Aveda products. Scene

A modern condo complex in the heart of town with an impressive main lobby

This cozy mountain resort attract many families, but corporate groups and couples also utilize the condos, some of which are time-share properties. Each of the three buildings has a quiet and comfy lobby with seating around gas fireplaces, but the lobby in the main building is particularly attractive. It exudes a casual elegance, with high ceilings, a wall of windows, slate tile floors, and rich wood paneling. The grounds are equally impressive, with multiple fire pits and whirlpools that attract guests year round. With no restaurant or bar, the meandering pool that’s flanked by two whirlpools, grills, and tables is the main gathering point.

Location

In Mammoth Lakes, a short walk from the Village Gondola and Village Plaza

The Village Lodge has a great location in central Mammoth Lakes, with the Village Gondola that takes skiers up to Canyon Lodge and the ski areas just a five-minute walk. The Village Plaza is also five minutes away on foot, and some restaurants and bars are even closer. While it’s not technically a ski-in/ski-out property, accessing the Ski Back Trail on skis is possible at times. The lodge also operates a shuttle to Canyon Lodge (five minutes), Mammoth-Yosemite Airport (16 minutes), and other spots around town. Yosemite National Park (via Tioga Pass Road) is about a 90-minute drive.

Rooms

Spacious condos with kitchens, gas fireplaces, and balconies, plus freebies

The Village Lodge's comfortable condos roomy are modern and tastefully decorated primarily in soft earth tones. Some decor variations exist, but generally expect to see beige carpet, comforters in solid colors, and matching wood furniture, including dining tables. Gas fireplaces framed by natural stone and upholstered sleeper sofas are standard, as are granite countertops in the fully equipped kitchens, which have dishwashers, full fridges, ranges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and cookware. There are also furnished balconies. All units come with flat-screen TVs, DVD players, free coffee and tea, and free Wi-Fi. Three-Bedroom condos add washer/dryers. Bathrooms are also spacious. Most contain shower/tub combos and many have double sinks. Some in multi-bedroom condos have separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers. All have Aveda toiletries, robes, and hairdryers. Unit options include Studio, One-Bedroom, Two-Bedroom/Two-Bath, and Three-Bedroom/Three-Bath condos. The condos typically offer pleasant village and mountain views and they're generally quiet, but units closest to the Village’s bars and restaurants can hear a bit of late-night noise at times.

Features

Heated pool, five whirlpools, and fitness centers, but no on-site restaurant and daily resort fee

This three-building condo complex doesn’t have on-site restaurants or bars, though its location in the heart of the village provide several options for guests. Otherwise, the extensive amenities here make for a comfortable stay -- but there's a hefty resort fee to cover use of facilities. Skiers who enjoy a relaxing soak after a day on the slopes will appreciate the five whirlpools that are open year-round. The spacious outdoor pool also is heated and open all year. It’s part of a lovely courtyard with gas grills, tables, and loungers. Each of the three buildings has a small fitness center with a few pieces of cardio and weight-training equipment. They also have ski lockers and laundry facilities. The main building has 3,700 square feet of meeting space and a business center with computers that guests can use at no extra charge. Bicycle storage areas are free for guests, as are loaner DVDs and daily newspapers at the front desk. Concierge services include valet dry cleaning, as well as arranging equipment rentals and lift tickets. There's also a game room with pinball and several video machines. Free shuttle service is provided around town and to the airport that operates on a regular schedule. Free parking for one vehicle per unit is available in complex’s heated underground garage and covered by the resort fee, as is Wi-Fi throughout.
