The upscale, 28-room CE Hotel de Diseño is all about style. The common areas and rooms are designed with minimalist decor and relaxing, subdued shades of brown, green, and orange. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms provide tons of natural light, and some great views of the city. The hotel is lacking in amenities -- no pool, spa, or restaurant (though there is a 24-hour free breakfast, as well as a bar/cafe in the basement), but there are plenty of options right outside. It's a good option for those who prefer design over amenities -- or location, as guests will need a car or taxi to get to many (but not all) tourist attractions.
Location
On the edge of the Recoleta neighborhood, bordering downtown
The CE Hotel de Diseño is located at the southern edge of the Recoleta neighborhood, with many restaurants and shops right outside. It's within walking distance of a few popular sights, including Teatro Colon and the Recoleta Cemetery, but most other attractions will require a taxi ride.Recoleta takes it name from the Recollect Fathers, a Franciscan order that established itself in the area during the early 18th century. They built a monastery, church and what would eventually become the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Featuring striking 19th and 20th century funerary art and architecture, the cemetery today is the final resting place many of Argentina's most influential political figures, including former First Lady Eva "Evita" Peron. Recoleta is also home to the National Library of Argentina, and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Downtown Buenos Aires is about 10 minutes away by car or taxi.- 36-minute drive to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini Airport (EZE)
