Bottom Line

This three-pearl, 76-room boutique hotel has a fresh, young vibe and colorful, contemporary decor. Located on a quiet side street in the city center, the Soho Boutique Hotel is close to tourist sights and transportation links. A trendy bar is in the lobby, Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, and a buffet breakfast is included in the room rate. Be aware however, that Standard Rooms are on the small side, and it might be worth it to upgrade to one of the much larger King Rooms. For a location closer to the river, check out the upscale Boutique Hotel Budapest, which offers a chic bistro and 24-hour room service, for a similar rate.

Scene

A youthful, trendy atmosphere catering to young leisure travelers

The scene at Soho Boutique Hotel screams young and modern: from the loud party music and trendy bar in the lobby to the blown-up black-and-white celebrity photographs throughout the property to the orange-and-green decor of the breakfast room -- all of which belie the hotel's dull brick exterior with its glass sliding doors. Arriving guests are received at an illuminated glass reception counter, and there’s plenty of seating on the bright orange contemporary-style sofas. The lobby bar area is illuminated by a high glass ceiling and has high-backed orange sofas and ‘60s-style swivel chairs arranged around small tables. The Soho Boutique Hotel is especially popular with young couples visiting the city.

Location

On a small side street in the city center close to a metro station

The Soho Boutique Hotel is situated in the city center on a small residential street of apartment buildings with businesses and small shops on their ground floors. There are plenty of trendy boutiques, restaurants, and cafes to be found in the neighborhood, and many tourist sights are easily reachable by public transportation. Blaha Lujza Square and its metro station is a four-minute walk from the hotel, and there are plenty of bus lines connecting the square to tourist sights across the city. The shopping street of Vaci utca is an eight-minute walk from the hotel. It’s a 21-minute bus ride to the Castle District, and a 10-minute ride to Budapest-Keleti Railway Terminal. Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is a 35-minute drive from the hotel, depending on traffic.

Rooms

Contemporary-style rooms with a fresh decor

The 76 guest rooms at the Soho Boutique have a fresh, contemporary look, but the color schemes are more toned-down than in the hotel's public areas. Rooms have dark wooden floors and furniture, black-and-white fashion snapshots along the walls, chic paper lanterns, and black-and-white striped curtains and runners on the beds. Standard Rooms can be cramped, with small bathrooms with shower cabins, and a panel of frosted glass forming part of the wall between the shower and bedroom. King Rooms are much more spacious, with high ceilings, huge beds, sitting areas with lime-green sofas and swivel chairs, and balconies with views of the street below. Their bathrooms have shower/tub combos. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and minibars -- but no tea- and coffee-making facilities.

Features

Buffet breakfast, lobby bar, on-site parking, free Wi-Fi throughout

A buffet breakfast is included in the room rate, served each morning in the vibrant breakfast room, which looks like a throwback to the late 60s with orange, clear plastic chairs, lime-green sofas, and bright-green striped curtains. The bar area in the lobby offers a place where guests can relax and mingle. There are two laptop computers available for guests’ use in the lobby, and meeting rooms can be booked for events. On-site garage parking is available for a daily fee and needs to be reserved in advance. There’s a luggage room in the lobby, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Pets are allowed for an extra fee.
