The Maverick Hostel is located in a royal mansion built under the Hapsburgs. It's situated in the heart of the city center, a short walk from local attractions and right next to a metro station. Beds in dorm rooms and private rooms are available, and every floor has lockers for guests along with a communal kitchen, a lounge area, and shared bathrooms. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there are free Hungarian beverage tastings. However, guests should not that this hostel-style property is bare bones, and has some outdated amenities like tube TVs.

Housed in a royal mansion built under the Hapsburg dynasty, this simple youth hostel has a fun, laid-back ambiance suited towards young budget travelers. The entrance that leads towards the lobby is grand, with ornate columns, crown molding, and skylights. A grand, old-fashioned staircase leads to a contrasting reception area that’s bright and modern, with black leather couches and Internet terminals. Free coffee, tea and fruit are available most of the time.

The hostel is located right by the Ferenciek tere metro station, where Line 3 of the Budapest Metro stops regularly. The area is busy, with plenty of shops, restaurants, banks, and bars within a few minutes' walk. There's also a 24-hour supermarket right by the hostel, convenient for guests who want to cook meals in one of the communal kitchens. The famous pedestrian shopping street, Vaci utca, is a two-minute walk away. The Hungarian National Museum and the Great Synagogue are each under a 10-minute walk away, while the Gellert Thermal Baths take around 20 minutes to reach on foot. The airport takes around 20 minutes to reach by car.

Simple dorms and rooms, some with en-suite bathrooms
The hotel’s design is fresh and simple, with cheery decor and a young vibe that extends to its rooms. Guests of the Maverick can stay in a dorm with five, six, or 10 beds, or opt for a private room with a flat-screen TV and either en-suite or shared bathrooms. A single room with its own en-suite bathroom is also available. Dormitories feature multiple beds, each with a reading light and a locker, and linens and towels are provided. One of the dorms has a loft set up, with some beds on an upper level, but none of the rooms have bunk beds. Rooms have tube-style TVs, but Wi-Fi is free throughout.
