Scene
Discreet boutique hotel with bright interiors
The Mamaison is an upper-middle-range property with Art Deco and Bauhaus stylistic influences. Stepping into the hotel from the quiet street, guests are greeted by a grand lobby with two-story ceilings supported by large, modern mirrored columns. The seating area features sleek charcoal and heather-gray couches and chairs with bright orange and red pillows. The hotel has seen its fair share of foreign emissaries thanks to its location in the diplomatic area, and today it attracts business travelers and tourists alike.
Location
In an exclusive diplomatic neighborhood not far from Budapest's main attractions
The Mamaison is situated just off the chic Andrassy Avenue on the Pest side of Budapest (the eastern part of the Danube). There are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance and the famous Szechenyi Thermal Baths and Heroes Square are both a five-minute walk away. Line 1 of the Metro stops at the Bajza utca station, a two-minute walk from the hotel, and connects guest to the center of town in under 15 minutes. The airport is a 25-minute drive away.
Rooms
Simple rooms and suites, some with terraces and whirlpool tubs
The 61 rooms and seven suites at the Mamaison feature plush gray carpets, lightwood furniture, and bedding and draperies in metallic shades of white gold and robins-egg blue, contrasted with burnt-orange velvet throw pillows. All come with flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and mini-fridges. DVD players are available upon request. Bathrooms are bright and cheerful, with walk-in showers, some with massage jets, or shower/tub combos as well as wall-mounted hairdryers. However, counter space is limited and many bathrooms are quite cramped. Larger suites have their own terraces with enjoyable views, whirlpool tubs, massage showers, and four-poster wrought-iron double beds.
Features
Chic restaurant and access to a nearby spa and wellness center

Although there's no spa or fitness center on-site, guests are given free access to the Mamaison Residence Izabella Hotel, a 10-minute walk away, which has a fitness room with personal trainers, a sauna, and massage services. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and there's an Internet corner with a couple of computers and a printer. Three meeting rooms and a business suite are also available for rent.
