Features include a fully equipped spa with a salt cave, fish pedicures, a sauna, a steam room, and a hair salon, along with pools and whirlpools, meeting rooms, and a business center. Scene
Dated resort on Margaret Island with a fully equipped spa, pools and a gym
Sitting on Margaret Island in the middle of the Danube, the Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget's upscale spa facilities set it apart from other Budapest hotels in its category. The nine-floor hotel, built in 1979, sits along a jogging path that runs parallel to the river and is shaded by trees. The old-fashioned building’s exterior is in need of renovating touches, and interiors, refurbished in 2001, look dated. Tinted glass windows line the lobby, which has a wooden front desk, stone tile floors, and a red-carpeted lounge with comfy furniture and park views. Hallways feature patterned carpeting and two modern elevators. The hotel serves both business guests and tourists, with facilities more suitable to those traveling without children.
Location
On Margaret Island in Budapest’s 13th district
The hotel is nestled in a park on Margaret Island, in the center of the Dunabe. The island’s quiet streets are filled with four-person bicycles. A jogging path runs along the river to the sister hotel, the Danubius Grand Hotel Margitsziget. The 26 bus line, with a stop two blocks away, goes to the end of the island, where there are pubs and restaurants, and then on to Gul Baba’s Tomb, which is 20 minutes away. It’s 35 minutes by bus to Buda Castle and Matthias Church. Shoes on the Danube takes 10 minutes by car while the Opera House is a 15-minute drive away. The Budapest Airport is half an hour away by car.
Rooms
Homey rooms and suites with flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and balconies
The hotel offers a variety of room types, namely Danubius Guestrooms, Family and Executive Twin Rooms, and Executive Junior and Executive Suites. Rooms have dated decor, low-pile carpeting, traditional wood furniture, striped wallpaper, writing desks, and floral drapes. All come with bathrobes, minibars, safes, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, kettles, and balconies with park or river views. Simple bathrooms have shower/tub combos and hairdryers. Suites have separate toilet rooms and showers, bathtubs and towel heaters. Executive Suites have two flat-screen TVs, sitting rooms, whirlpool tubs, and bidets. Accessible rooms are available, and pets and rollaway beds can be arranged for a fee.
Features
Numerous drinking/dining options, meeting rooms and bussines facilities, and huge spa with multiple pools
The hotel has two classically decorated restaurants -- the Platan and the Szechenyi -- both with terrace seating. There’s also the Boroka Bar in the lobby, the poolside Neptun Bar, and the Kamilla Coffee Shop, which has floor-to-ceiling windows.
Eight classically designed meeting rooms can fit up to 450 people and catering and audiovisual equipment can be arranged. The business room is traditionally decorated and offers three PCs with separate desks and a printer. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
The spa uses the island’s natural thermal springs, offering an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, four thermal pools, and a hot tub. There’s a cafe lit by skylights on the deck, blue lounge chairs, and a wheelchair lift. The spa also has and lounge with '70s-style interior designs, treatment rooms, a Dead Sea salt cave, electrotherapy rooms, a sauna, a steam room, two fish pedicure stations, a modern hair salon, and even a cosmetics room. The colorfully tiled gym has a snack bar, cardio equipment, flat-screen TVs, weight machines, and two aerobic rooms.
