Scene
Elegant, historic hotel with a traditional and historic vibe that feels dated in some spaces
The hotel was built in the late 19th century and has a grand feeling that's noticeable from the moment guests arrive. The ornate, large building sits on Margaret Island in the middle of the Danube River, surrounded by greenery. The interiors feature high ceilings, dark wood furniture, green marble columns, leather chairs and couches, and thick patterned curtains. There's also a large dark-wood front desk with multiple posts for checking in and out. A foyer level hallway leads to a gift shop and a pair of elevators. The property has multiple conference facilities and is a popular business hotel, although it's also an attractive choice for tourists who want to be in the literal center of the city.
Location
Situated on the lush and quiet Margaret Island, in the middle of a park
The hotel is located on Margaret Island, in the center of the Danube River, which is dominated by a lush park with a Japanese garden, rose garden, and open-air amphitheater -- as well as plenty of walking and jogging paths. Parliament is 20 minutes away on public transportation or 30 minutes away on foot, while St. Stephen’s Basilica takes closer to 25 minutes on public transportation or 45 minutes on foot. The airport is a half-hour drive away.
Rooms
Comfortable, but somewhat dated, rooms with some modern touches
The 164 rooms are decorated in rich, royal colors of blue, gold, red, and green. They’re outfitted with antique furniture and decorations, old-fashioned oil paintings, and high-ceilings, and the decor walks the line between classically old-fashioned and dated. Modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, electric kettles, and safes. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the Danube River or out onto the park. Suites with separate living rooms with desks are also available.
Features
Elegant restaurant, expansive connected spa with pools, meeting facilities, and limited free breakfast

There's also a hair and beauty salon at the spa as well as a fitness center with personal training and classes. A salt chamber gives guests the feeling of being in an underground cave. The spa also has indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a poolside bar. The hotel's fine-dining Szechenyi Restaurant is housed in a classically decorated room with wine-colored curtains and chairs and views of the park.
