Scene

Elegant spaces for dining, drinking, and enjoying entertainment

On entering the Neoclassical building, guests are welcomed into a bright and airy lobby; a glass ceiling sheds light into exposed hallways with stone columns and decorative wrought iron rails. Rich tapestry rugs, floor-length drapes, and live piano music add a touch of elegance. There’s a variety of restaurants inside the hotel including a large breakfast buffet with seating available in a pretty atrium under a glass ceiling. Drinks are served at the hotel bar, and at the Orfeum Club connected to the hotel -- where theatrical and musical performances are held. An outdoor garden with trees, hedges, and colorful flowers creates a nice view from some of the rooms. There's also a lovely rooftop garden for relaxing, and a chic library-style room within the piano bar where guests can read with a cocktail. Kids are welcome, but the hushed and elegant ambiance is more suited to couples and business travelers.

Location

Downtown location convenient to public transportation and cultural and historic sights

The hotel is in a convenient location downtown with plenty of restaurants nearby. St. Stephen’s Basilica is a seven-minute trip on the metro (or 10 minutes by metro and tram). Castle Hill (site of Buda Castle) in the medieval part of the city can be reached in less than 30 minutes on public transportation, and Vaci Street, a famous pedestrian street full of shops and cafes, is about a 10-minute drive. The State Opera is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and Budapest Airport is less than a 30-minute drive or hour ride via public transportation.

Rooms

Classic rooms with elegant décor; suites with kitchens

Rooms are classically decorated in shades of taupe and cream with touches of red, and have carpeted floors, matching wooden furniture, and tasteful paintings. Crown molding and marble bathrooms add elegance to the space. All rooms have views of Budapest's streets, and are equipped with minibars, coffee/tea makers, flat-screen TVs with local and international channels, and free Wi-Fi and wired internet. Suites with full kitchens and dining tables are available, and some Premium Rooms and suites come with access to the Executive Lounge with free snacks. At over 2,500 square feet, the Presidential Suite is one of the biggest in Hungary and has two bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, office, and hot tub.

Features

Huge indoor pool, amazing spa, and elegant fitness center

The hotel has a variety of restaurants serving Hungarian, Asian, and international cuisine. There’s also a cafe serving Hungarian tarts and cakes, a piano bar with events such as live jazz and book readings, and a club providing theatrical entertainment connected to the hotel. There’s a huge, indoor heated pool with a separate hot tub; a spa offers a slew of facial and body treatments with luxurious Espa products, along with a sauna and steam room. The crowded yet elegant fitness center, with pale green wallpaper and attractive wood doors, has modern equipment including Technogym treadmills and a weight bench. There’s a souvenir shop on-site, and parking is available for a fee. Conference rooms and a grand ballroom -- with ornate carpeting, high ceilings, and crystal chandeliers -- are available for meetings and events.
