Bottom Line

Housed in a renovated 17th-century stationary factory, the Bohem Art Hotel is a sleek upscale property with work by young Hungarian artists displayed throughout its 60 stylish rooms and common areas. It’s in a great location for tourists in historical downtown Budapest, a block off of Vaci Street (a pedestrian-friendly boulevard with shops and restaurants) and the Danube River. A breakfast buffet with champagne and a nice variety of dishes is served in a chic room, and there’s a happy hour with free coffee and snacks in the lobby. The hotel also has a swanky lounge bar, but no full on-site restaurant, pool, or fitness center. Guests willing to pay a little more may also want to check out the Hotel Palazzo Zichy, a modern hotel with stylish rooms and an impressive internet room.

Bohem Art Hotel

Scene

Artsy hotel with bold paintings by Hungarian artists

In a beautiful stone building with wood-framed windows on a narrow street in historical downtown, the inside of Bohem Art Hotel is much more edgy than its classic exterior may suggest. The funky lobby is stylish with wood floors, black chairs, and glossy red tables. Vibrant, modern paintings ranging from abstract pieces to photorealism by Hungarian artists can be found throughout the hotel and inside the guest rooms. A remaining classic wooden staircase leads down to the chic breakfast room with sleek white tables and trendy tree-covered wallpaper. There’s a small, swanky lounge bar with purple velvet chairs and edgy purple and red wallpaper where guests can enjoy a drink.
