Scene
Rustic cabins with varying degrees of seclusion
Rock Creek Cabins -- which come with either one, two, or three bedrooms -- are spread out across three different areas with varying levels of seclusion; guests should check with property staff when booking to find out where their cabin will be. Three-bedroom cabins are the most secluded, though all cabins feel private, with lots of plants and elevation changes contributing to a hidden, authentically woodsy atmosphere. The property is beautiful throughout, with color-changing leaves in autumn, and an outdoor fire pit at a location with amazing views of the mountainous region -- up to 30 miles' worth of views on clear days. One of the three locations is an eight-acre parcel studded with seven cabins, each separated by at least 200 feet. Cabins are unique in structure, ranging from a traditional log cabin to a mountaintop green cottage to an adorable A-frame chalet. Some cabins are near a farm, where the sound of a rooster crowing can be a charming nuisance.
Location
Mountainous area near Bryson City and Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Rock Creek Cabins are spread out in different locations near Bryson City. Some guests find the roads leading to the cabins difficult to navigate. Bryson City is about a five minutes' drive, and has several casual and family restaurants on offer. The cabins are also within about a 20 minutes' drive of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where guests can hike, fly fish, and go river tubing. It’s a 20-minute drive to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, which organizes whitewater rafting trips on a nearby river. The property is also a little over an hour’s drive to Asheville.
Rooms
Rustic cabins have full kitchens, fireplaces, and outdoor hot tubs.
Rock Creek Cabins are private one-, two-, and three-bedroom cabins with homey furnishings like leather couches, and wooden side tables and TV stands. Muted grays and earth tones combine with crisp white, dark leather, and loads of exposed wood for an easy elegance, while books scattered throughout cabins lend a cozy vibe. Full kitchens are stocked with cooking and serving ware and include modern microwaves, refrigerators, and ovens. Cabins have wooden dining tables and living rooms with TVs. All cabins have outdoor hot tubs and wood or gas log fireplaces; some have dishwashers and/or porch swings with mountain views. In the A-frame chalet, the bed is located upstairs in a loft space, which can make for challenging late-night bathroom trips.
