Bottom Line

This Best Western Plus, located about a mile from Bryce Canyon National Park, is a great value for a lower-middle-range property. The hotel is more modern than the other Best Western in town (though some may prefer the extensive features and kitschy Western style at Best Western Plus Ruby's Inn). Although the hotel does not have a restaurant on-site, there are several dining and shopping options nearby, and the hotel does offer a free daily hot breakfast as well as free Wi-Fi and free parking. The seasonal outdoor pool and big whirlpool are property highlights.

Scene

Warm and inviting with a lodge-like vibe

With high ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and a large stone fireplace, the lobby at the Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel feels like a quiet, comfortable lodge. Western-style furnishings and casual, homey touches, like taxidermy and rustic potted plants, complete the inviting scene. The large front desk is easy to spot, and wooden rocking chairs as well as leather armchairs are available for relaxing by the fire. Travel information and a public ATM are available, and the entrance to the business center is located directly off the lobby. A mix of travelers, including foreign visitors and domestic guests, relax around the pool after exploring nearby parks.

Location

Quiet location near Bryce Canyon National Park

Conveniently located off of Highway 63, this hotel is tucked a bit off the main road, making it quiet but still within a short drive of plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. (The restaurants are technically close enough to walk to, but there are no sidewalks, so it's not a particularly pedestrian-friendly route). The hotel itself is surrounded by a large parking lot, but the nearby area is scenic and peaceful. The entrance to the Bryce Canyon National Park is just about one mile away, as are Ruby’s General Store, a local rodeo, and several restaurants. Ruby’s Inn is also nearby, and offers guided horseback riding and ATV excursions. Other area activities include mountain biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

Rooms

Clean, chain-like rooms with microwaves and mini-fridges

Travelers familiar with the Best Western brand will be pleased with the rooms at this property. They're decorated in warm neutral tones with pops of orange and yellow, and are considerably larger than one might expect at this price point. The smallest rooms are still a good size and include a single king-size bed, but families or groups should book the larger Double Queen Room or the Double Queen Suite, which includes a pull-out couch. Those who want the most space available should book the generously sized 770-foot King Deluxe Suite, which features a whirlpool bathtub and pull-out couch. Every room includes a coffeemaker, microwave, mini-fridge, and free Wi-Fi. Rooms on the upper levels are quieter and also can feature better views of the rustic landscape.

Features

Free breakfast, seasonal pool, and shuttle to national park

While the hotel’s location is convenient, the property itself also includes a variety of useful features. A small fitness center and guest laundry facilities are available during the day, along with a business center and several meeting rooms. The hotel offers a spacious courtyard with a seasonal outdoor pool and heated whirlpool, and guests also have access to an indoor pool at the nearby Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn. Guests have free Wi-Fi in rooms and all public areas, as well as free parking and free daily hot breakfast. The hotel’s shuttle service provides transportation to the airport and national park. Though there is no restaurant on-site, the restaurant at Ruby's Inn is within a short drive -- just be prepared for a long line, as many tour buses stop there. Old Bryce Town, affiliated with Ruby's, is a string of shops with a Wild West vibe (think: one-story log structures, a wagon on display).
