Maxhotel

Brussels, Belgium

Geared toward budget travelers, the Max lives up to its mission of creating a high-quality product at a low price. Centrally located within a 15 to 25 minutes' walk of the main square, Royal Palace, Museum Quarter, and most of the city's hot spots, it’s ideal for anyone wanting a clean, comfortable, modern room with a private bath and television -- but who doesn’t mind a self-service approach to communal amenities; picture machines for check-in rather than a reception desk, and vending machines instead of a restaurant. However, the hotel is not well-suited for business travelers (or others) in need of a solid Wi-Fi connection, as the paid in-room access is very inconsistent -- or even non-existent in some rooms.

The Residence Les Ecrins

Brussels, Belgium

The 23-room Residence Les Ecrins is a value hotel in a prime Brussels location that offers reasonably priced rooms and apartments. A homey on-site breakfast room and small terrace are nice touches. Rooms offer flat-screen TVs and apartments feature modern kitchens, but some of the furnishings are a bit worn. These pet-friendly rooms and apartments offer excellent value for money, but if you're looking for more modern and stylish apartments, check out the Citadines Sainte-Catherine Brussels.

Suite Home Stephanie

Saint-Gilles, Belgium

The property, situated in the Louise neighborhood of Brussels, offers five different types of modern, apartment-style guest-room configurations. All units have full kitchens and large baths, and are clean if a touch spartan. Though the hotel is removed from the city center, visitors can still reach it in about 15 minutes via public transport.

NH Brussels Bloom

Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Belgium

Hotel BLOOM! is a 287-room, upscale with modern design and colorful decor. Spacious, modern rooms start at 320 square feet (30 square meters), and each was decorated by a different young artist; neutral colors in the furniture allows the quirky wall art to pop. The hotel is located in the heart of the Financial District, and while it is perfect for the business traveler, guests traveling for pleasure may want to look for somewhere closer to city center. Hotel BLOOM! is not located in an area with many bar and restaurant options but the metro is close by. There is also a restaurant offering a breakfast buffet, and parking (for a fee) on-site.

Hotel Metropole

Brussels, Belgium

A late 19th-century historic landmark in Brussels, the 286-room Metropole is best suited to guests wanting to experience a bit of antique grandeur -- and who are willing to pay for it. With glamorous meeting facilities, a fine dining restaurant with old world elegance, a fitness center, and full concierge service -- not to mention a central location within a 10-minute walk of Grand Place and lots of shopping -- this upscale property is ideal for both business guests and tourists. Although the carpet is worn in places and some rooms could stand to be updated, the hotel offers lovely guest rooms with window-side seating nooks, and large suites with incredible bathrooms.
