Bottom Line

This mid-range hotel In the diverse Saint-Gilles neighborhood is right next to Bruxelles-Midi (Brussels South), the city's main railway station. If you're after easy access to the TGV, Thalys, or Eurostar, its location can't be beat. The neighborhood around the hotel lacks the charm of other Brussels enclaves, but the hotel is well connected by public transportation to the city's tourist attractions, all of which are within a 15 minutes' ride. The hotel's 142 rooms are spare but bright and comfortable, with flat-screen TVs and tidy, well-lit workspaces. Note that complaints have been made about the Wi-Fi connection and apathetic staff. There are several other alternatives around the perimeter of Bruxelles-Midi, including ibis Brussels Centre Gare Midi, just next door. Though not as modern as the Radisson, the 225-room ibis has the same amenities and pricing.

Park Inn by Radisson Brussels Midi

Scene

Modern property with fitness center next to main railway saton

The Park Inn by Radisson Brussels Midi is a "business first" type of hotel, but that doesn't make it unpleasant or austere. The warm lobby here bustles with a mélange of travelers sitting on cushy red and black couches or using self check-in/out machines before running next door to catch trains to cities across Europe. In warmer weather, tables and chairs in the small interior courtyard beckon. Because it's right next to Brussels' main railway station, this Radisson is popular with those in the E.U. capital on business. But it's location gives it broad appeal -- since it takes less than 15 minutes on public transportation to reach Brussels' main attractions, this could be a good property for tourists seeking value.

Rooms

Two styles of spacious rooms, both with ample light, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and workspaces

The Standard and Business Friendly Rooms at this Radisson are tidy, modern, and bright, equally suitable for tourists and business travelers. They're spare but not spartan. The comfortable beds are dressed in crisp white linens with either red or green accents, matching the curtains and chairs. Rooms are well-lit, with reading lamps on nightstands and desks topped with table lamps. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, coffee- and tea-making facilities and, in the bathrooms, hairdryers. Minibars or mini-fridges are notably absent, and while rooms are advertised as having safes, the rooms we visited didn't have them. The 280-square-foot Standard Rooms and 366-square-foot Business Friendly Rooms are quite similar, but the Business Friendly Room rate includes breakfast. Standard Rooms have shower stalls while the Business Friendly Rooms have either a shower stall or a bathtub. But all bathrooms are clean and simple, sporting fresh white subway tile and soap or body wash in wall-mounted dispensers.
