The Floris Arlequin
Grand’Place is a value hotel located in central Brussels near transport, restaurants,
shopping, and popular attractions. The
92 rooms are dated to varying degrees (depending on the room), and some have minibars and kettles. There have been reports of
cleanliness and maintenance issues, as well as bothersome noise complaints on
lower floors. Perks include a breakfast room with panoramic views of Brussels,
an art-house theater in the same building, meeting rooms, and a public computer. There's no restaurant, but there is a small fitness center with dated machines. While it's a great value, it might be worth also checking the prices
at the Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre, which has more up-to-date decor and
far more amenities.
Scene
Value hotel with dated decor, but a lovely breakfast room with panoramic views
The central location and value of this
hotel appeals to budget travelers who don’t mind the dated state
of the property. The lobby isn't designed to impress and manages to look only
slightly less dated than the rest of the hotel. It has low ceilings and a
combination of glossy floors and carpet, plus multiple modern leather and
upholstered chairs for seating. Hallways and stairwells leading to rooms have worn
brown carpet and white walls with a stripe of lime green paint -- and could use a new coat. The breakfast room is basic but lovely, with wooden tables and brown
chairs, but panoramic views brighten the simplistic style. Within the same building is a small art-house movie theater.
Location
Central location within walking distance of attractions, dining, and public transportation
Floris Arlequin Grand’Place is located in a central part of town, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. It’s a three-minute walk to the nearest metro and four minutes to a bus or tram stop. It’s a
three-minute walk to Grand Place, a large city square with historic buildings. the Cathedral of St.
Michael and St. Gudula takes seven minutes on foot to reach, while
the Royal Palace of Brussels is a 16-minute walk. Both Place Saint-Gery and
Place Saint-Catherine are approximately seven minutes away on foot. Brussels Airport
is a 23-minute drive away.
Rooms
Dated rooms with flat-screen TVs, some with minibars or mini-fridges and kettles
Rooms at the Floris Arlequin
Grand’Place are colorful, though in desperate need of an update. Each room
differs in decor, but most have violet or teal accent walls. Beds have white linens and colorful pillows with patterns or prints, but they
clash with the striped curtains in varying shades of brown. Some rooms have strips of pop art hung on the wall and the laminate wood furniture found throughout the rooms has
visible wear and tear. All rooms are outfitted with
air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, and some have mini-fridges or
stocked minibars, safes, and kettles. Bathrooms have rose-colored marble floor tiles and sinks and either shower/tub combos or showers. The
brown and tan-striped shower curtains aren’t very attractive and hairdryers are dated. Toiletries are limited to soap and body wash in wall-mounted dispensers. Views range from buildings across the street, to wonderful city vistas. There have been complaints about cleanliness and maintenance issues, and some of the lower-level rooms get street noise.
