Bottom Line

The 45-room Hotel De Tuilerieen mixes the historical and the contemporary in an upscale way, creating a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere throughout. It is in the heart of Bruges on
the Dijver Canal and within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and
attractions; however, this sometimes results in noise reaching the rooms. Grand
furniture, pops of color, and thoughtful extras decorate the elegant yet modern
rooms and the bathrooms are large and appealing. Original features can be seen
throughout the hotel and there is free Wi-Fi, a wellness center, and butler
service by request. On-site parking is available, but costs a daily fee, and
the breakfast, although wonderful, is expensive. This hotel is also pet-friendly and has a gorgeous indoor pool with a skylight, a rare find in the city.

Scene

Modern, upscale hotel with historic roots

Overlooking the Dijver Canal in a 15th
century building, the Hotel De Tuilerieen combines historical details and
modern amenities in a luxurious way. The lobby has tourist
information, gorgeous chandeliers, tile and wood floors, and bright
floor-to-ceiling windows with abundant natural light. Grand staircases are
impressive and the plush, multi-colored antique furniture throughout is
comfortable and stylish; original brick and beams can also be seen. Photos
of famous guests decorate the walls along with contemporary wallpaper while
flowers and cozy nooks add homey touches. There is a wonderful outdoor terrace
with large shrubs that make it feel private and free newspapers in the lobby. An
on-site bar has low lighting, which makes it feel cozy in addition to the
welcoming, intimate vibe that runs through the hotel.

Location

In the heart of Bruges, within walking distance to restaurants, attractions, and shops

The Hotel De Tuilerieen is located on a busy street in the center of Bruges. The Gruuthuse Museum, Bruges Belfry, Basilica
of the Holy Blood, Burg, and Grote Markt are all under a five-minute walk from the
hotel and Minnewater is about a 10-minute walk away. Guests can walk to a number of
shops, restaurants, and other attractions, and public transportation can easily take you
to any other destination in the city. Renting a car is only necessary
if you plan on visiting the countryside or traveling outside the city center. From
this location, guests get a good feel for the atmosphere and culture of the
city, but the slow traffic outside the hotel’s front door makes it difficult
and time consuming to get out of the city.

Rooms

Bright, luxe rooms with exceptional design and great extras

Elegant and historical, the rooms at this
hotel are bright and large while mixing new and old flawlessly. The cottage
style of the rooms includes a good mix of neutrals and colors such as blues and
yellows, and the wood furniture is high quality. Antique touches such as
chandeliers and original wood beams are in some rooms as are views of the
splendid Dijver canal. Electric kettles are available in every room in
addition to minibars and 45-inch flat-screen TVs. A free newspaper is delivered
each day and there are slippers and bathrobes available in the bathroom. A
separate walk-in shower and tub have clean white tile and some rooms have
double sinks. DeTuilerieen amenities and heated towel racks add some luxury to
the bathrooms and the space is large and inviting. Because the Hotel De
Tuilerieen is on a busy street; outside foot and car traffic as well as indoor
hallway noise may be an issue for some.

Features

Bright indoor pool and wellness center with massages; free Wi-Fi throughout

The Hotel De Tuilerieen houses a bright,
wonderful indoor pool, which is a rarity in the city, with a large glass
ceiling for natural light. A wellness center with a good-size
sauna and steam room also has a bathroom and showers; massages are available but require a reservation. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout and
there is a concierge, dry cleaning, on-site bar, and baby-sitting service, in addition to
24-hour room service and a butler service available upon request. There is
on-site parking but it has a daily fee, and the meeting room has wired Internet
for a fee and computer rentals. The breakfast receives exceptional reviews yet
it is expensive, as is the airport shuttle. The hotel is pet-friendly.
