The Bonobo Apart
Hotel is an all-apartment hotel with 11 guestrooms, housed in a typically quaint building on a quiet cobbled street in
historic Bruges. The location is excellent, with all of the city's main tourist
attractions well within walking distance. Apartments are clean and modern, most
with fully equipped kitchens, and a breakfast service is available for
those without. A flower-filled courtyard makes a pleasant place to relax, and the
owners are particularly welcoming and attentive. All in all, for simple and affordable apartment accommodation in a prime Bruges location, you can't do much better
than this.
Scene
Simple apartment hotel set in quaint period building with pretty summer terrace
The Bonobo Apart
Hotel occupies a quaint and understated historic building with a simple
whitewashed facade and red-tiled roof typical of the Bruges' local architecture.
Entry to the lobby -- an unfussy room with simple wooden furnishings and a small
reception desk -- is by buzzer or key-code and the space also doubles as a
breakfast room. Two sets of large French doors open up onto a summer terrace
with seating, umbrellas, and plenty of flowering plants and potted shrubbery.
The ambience is relatively modern, bright, and airy, even though the pleasant interiors are rather basic, with little in the way of fancy design or flair in
common areas. The complex is run by a couple who ensure the place is clean and
guests well looked after. The self-catering set-up attracts largely families
with kids and those looking for an affordable, longer-term stay in Bruges.
Location
Quiet, cobbled street setting in historic Bruges, a 10-minute walk from the main square
The hotel is
situated on a quiet cobbled street just south of the historic heart of the
charming and picturesque city of Bruges. All of the main tourists attractions
are well within walking distance, including the main market square and Basilica
of the Holy Blood, both less than a 10-minute walk away. Although the city is best
explored on foot, car access is also possible and the hotel is just a couple
blocks from the R30 highway that connects to the ring road and beyond. Bruges's
main train station is about a 15-minute walk away -- or an eight minute bus
journey -- while Ostend-Bruges International Airport is a half-hour drive on a
good day. Parking is available at the hotel for a fee, and the owners can help with recommendations of sights, restaurants, and day-trips.
Rooms
Fresh, modern, basic apartments -- most with kitchenettes, some with a furnished terrace
The hotel has 11
one- or two- bedroom apartments, most of which have well-equipped
kitchenettes for self-catering stays; those that lack kitchens are offered a free breakfast service. All apartments have separate living areas with sofas
and flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the building. The overall aesthetic is modern and bright, although there's little in the way of adornment apart from the odd artwork or pop of color in a cushion. Bathrooms are generally very modern and spacious, with plenty of natural light and a walk-in rainfall shower. Some apartments open out onto their own terrace with dining furniture and
large umbrella. All of the windows are fitted with proper mosquito nets, which, in a canal city like Bruges, is a real bonus that surprisingly few hotels
provide.
Features
Garden patio, daily breakfast service, and private on-site parking
For those
apartments without self-catering facilities, the hotel serves a simple, buffet
breakfast which can also be enjoyed in the pretty rear courtyard on warmer
days. Other guests can take advantage of the breakfast service for a fee. There are also tea and coffee facilities available to guests throughout
the day and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Those arriving by
car also have access to private parking spaces adjacent to the terrace (for a
daily fee).
