Bottom Line

Park Regis North Quay Hotel is a three-pearl tower hotel that attracts both tourists and business travelers alike with its central, riverfront location and solid amenities. The 123 rooms here feature modern decor and about half of them have city views; some also have kitchenettes. However, there have been some complaints of wear and tear. Amenities include a lovely outdoor pool, a decent fitness center, and eight conference rooms, plus the On Quay Restaurant & Bar  where kids under 12 eat free with a paying adult. Parking is available, but it's limited and expensive. Those shopping around may want to also consider the Watermark Hotel Brisbane, which has lovely rooms but is a bit farther away from the city center.

Scene

Mid-range hotel popular with families and business travelers alike

Park Regis North Quay Hotel is a mid-range hotel that looks a bit like an apartment tower from the outside, owing to its tall and narrow facade, but the lobby is much more hotel-like, with dark-brown marble floors and a small seating area with plush, contemporary benches. Additional seating is located one level up, on the hotel's dedicated conference floor. Guests are a mix of business guests and tourists, and the hotel gets a good number of families and long-term guests.

Location

On the Brisbane River in the city center, near shops, restaurants, public transit stops, and museums

Park Regis North Quay Hotel is located right on the Brisbane River in an area with lots of other hotels as well as shops and restaurants. It's right down the road from the ANZ ATM Brisbane Transit Centre and about a 15-minute walk from popular Queen Street Mall. It's also just across the river from a few of the city's most popular attractions, including the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), the Queensland Art Gallery, and the Queensland Museum and Science Centre, all of which can be reached in under 10 minutes on foot. The airport is a 15-minute drive away or it can be reached in roughly 45 minutes via public transportation.

Rooms

Bright, contemporary rooms with up to two bedrooms, some with kitchenettes and many with river views

Rooms at this hotel range from 22-square-meter (237-square-foot) Standard Hotel Rooms, each with one queen bed, clear up to 42-square-meter (452-square-foot) One-Bedroom River View Apartments, each with its own kitchenette. Two-Bedroom Dual Key Apartments are also available, but it should be noted that these are actually two One-Bedroom units connected together. All rooms have nearly identical decor, with brownish-gray carpeting and matching chairs and counters paired with off-white tables and bedsheets spruced up with bright purple and gold throw cushions and bed runners. Bathrooms are simple and bright, with walk-in rainfall showers and wall-mounted toiletries. About half of the rooms face the river, while a quarter have city views and another quarter face Mount Coot-tha. Note that there have been some complaints of wear and tear in rooms.

Features

Outdoor pool deck with kids' enclosure, decent fitness center, eight conference rooms, and On Quay Restaurant & Bar

Facilities at the Park Regis are aimed at business travelers and tourists alike and include a lovely outdoor pool that's long enough for swimming laps. The pool also features a small enclosure for kids (it's only a meter deep) and a few wooden chairs and lounge chairs for sunbathing. The fitness center here offers a good range of cardio and weight-training equipment. The hotel offers eight conference rooms on one floor for up to 180 guests. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Underground parking is available, but it's limited and cannot be reserved in advance. On Quay Restaurant & Bar is open for all three meals and offers free dining for kids when accompanied by a paying adult. The hotel also offers coin-operated barbecue grills on a city-facing deck for guests who want to go the DIY way.
