Airway Motel Brisbane

The Airway Motel Brisbane is a small and cheerful property that has a typical motel-style setup with exterior hallways and a central courtyard. The white rectangular building features blue trim and staircases link the two floors. Shrubs, trees, and leafy plants line and decorate the brick courtyard where guests can eat breakfast. A small saltwater pool next to the courtyard is a nice place for a quick dip after a long flight. There aren't any common areas at the property other than the courtyard and a small reception room with a bright-orange wall, a vending machine, and floor-to-ceiling windows decorated with a plane decal. Most guests are travelers who want to be near the airport for an early flight, or who need a place to stay for a night after landing in Brisbane. The staff here are known to be helpful for carrying guests' bags or calling for shuttles and taxis. 

Airway Motel is located in Ascot, about a 10-minute drive south of Brisbane Airport. There are a few restaurants and a grocery store within a 15-minutes walk and the Doomben Racecourse is a five-minute walk away. The property is also near the Gateway Motorway, so it's an easy drive to area theme parks such as Sea World (one hour), Dreamworld (45 to 60 minutes), and Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo (one hour). The city of Brisbane is a 15-minute drive or bus ride away (bus stops at motel's front door). The Doomben train station is about a five-minute walk away and trains service the city every half-hour. Bretts Wharf and the City Cat ferry terminal are about 20 minutes' walk or a few minutes' drive away. Royal Queensland and Nudgee Golf Courses, as well as Suncorp Stadium and The Gabba for rugby and cricket games, are all within a 10- to 15-minute drive. 

Rooms at Airway Motel are clean and compact with efficient and modern decor. Simple wooden furniture includes nightstands, desks, and headboards. Beds have navy-and-orange blankets, and the plain white walls feature oblong bedside lights. Some rooms have blue carpeting while others have wooden floors. Windows range from very narrow to floor-to-ceiling, depending on the room. Rooms have air-conditioning, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi, coffee- and tea-making facilities, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Queen, Twin, and Queen Single (with one queen-size bed and one single bed) options are available with space for up to four guests in some rooms. Closets hold ironing facilities. Decently sized but dated bathrooms have walk-in showers and simple toiletries. Noise from traffic, the train, and adjoining rooms can be an issue in some rooms. 

As a simple and budget-friendly airport property, there aren't many features at The Airway Motel. It offers daily continental breakfast for a fee, served to rooms or outside in the poolside brick courtyard. There's a small outdoor saltwater pool surrounded by trees and plants, as well as sunbeds. A laundry room with a washer and dryer, as well as stacks of extra towels and blankets, is available to guests. Free parking is available on-site, but there's a fee for long-term parking.
