The Park Hotel Brisbane
551 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill

The Watermark is a smart three-and-a-half-pearl hotel located in a residential area just north of Brisbane's busy city center. Even so, it's still within easy reach of the city's best shopping and dining. Its 94 rooms are contemporary and feature sleek bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi -- many have private balconies overlooking the pretty Roma Street Parklands. Suites feature cozy living rooms with desks. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, as well as some outdoor seating beside the pool. Unfortunately, it lacks other features such as a business center and gym, making it best for travelers who won't spend much time hanging out on-site. Travelers looking for those features might consider Hotel Urban next door, though it has a far artsier style.

Park Regis North Quay Hotel
Park Regis 293 North Qy

Park Regis North Quay Hotel is a three-pearl tower hotel that attracts both tourists and business travelers alike with its central, riverfront location and solid amenities. The 123 rooms here feature modern decor and about half of them have city views; some also have kitchenettes. However, there have been some complaints of wear and tear. Amenities include a lovely outdoor pool, a decent fitness center, and eight conference rooms, plus the On Quay Restaurant & Bar  where kids under 12 eat free with a paying adult. Parking is available, but it's limited and expensive. Those shopping around may want to also consider the Watermark Hotel Brisbane, which has lovely rooms but is a bit farther away from the city center.

Airway Motel Brisbane
6 Lamington Ave

The Airway Motel Brisbane is a small budget property that's best suited for travelers who need to be close to the airport, located a 10-minute drive away. Brisbane is 15 minutes away via a bus that stops at the property, and a racecourse and restaurants are within walking distance. The 20 rooms are clean and fairly modern. They offer microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers, but noise can be an issue and bathrooms are dated. There aren't many features here, but the small outdoor pool is nice for a quick swim, and there's a brick courtyard where continental breakfast is served for a fee. The motel also offers free Wi-Fi and a laundry room. Ibis Budget Brisbane Airport is similarly priced and five minutes from the airport, but cleanliness can be an issue.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Francisco Airport North
5000 Sierra Point Pkwy

The 210-room, upper-middle-range DoubleTree by Hilton San Francisco Airport North is a clean and comfortable property conveniently located near the airport and connected via a free shuttle service. Extensive features -- including free on-site parking, a full-service restaurant, room service, an indoor pool, and 24/7 fitness and business centers -- make it appealing to all busy travelers. And rooms offer ample space, nice bathrooms, and mini-fridges. But the shuttle schedule can cause frustrating delays, and no outside restaurants or stores are within walking distance. While the DoubleTree is competitively priced, choice abounds nearby. Lower rates at good hotels can be found, including at the adjacent Homewood Suites by Hilton San Francisco Airport North.
