Bottom Line
Calling itself "England's most Rock 'n' Roll hotel" certainly gives the upper-middle-range Hotel Pelirocco a lot to live up to, but it makes a sterling effort. The focus is on the hotel's individually themed rooms (from burlesque to sci-fi), which are very imaginatively finished and truly unique, though some are starting to show wear. It's true that some rooms verge on X-rated, but there are typical and toned down options as well. The location isn't bad, being a 10-minute walk into the town center. The bar is definitely a fun scene, but doesn't do much in the way of food. The general vibe will not be to everyone's taste, but rates aren't much higher than expected for the seafront, and it's sure to be a memorable experience. If you're looking for something more stylish and less campy, compare rates at the boutique property, Myhotel Brighton.

Traditional Regency townhouse with kitsch eccentricity
The Hotel Pelirocco is a boutique property housed in a typical Regency terrace on Brighton's seafront, very much belying the riot of eccentricity and burlesque sauciness that awaits within. Upon entry, shocking pink walls adorned with pin-up girls, pop art, and old concert posters usher visitors towards the lobby/bar area -- where an even more riotous mix of eclectic furnishings and quirky decor awaits. The ethos is a celebration of the subversive and the sensual, reflecting the area's renowned counter-culture and attracting a mixture of hip city breakers, amorous young couples, and the occasional bachelorette/hen party.
Location
On a typical Regency square, opposite West Pier and 10-minutes' walk to center
The Hotel Pelirocco is located on a typical Regency square on Brighton's seafront, just opposite the West Pier ruins. It's not as centrally located as many hotels, though still within 10-minutes' walk of the town center lanes and the main Brighton Pier. Brighton railway station is about 15 minutes away on foot, while the twin town of Hove is a mile away down the coast. The hotel doesn't provide parking.
Rooms
Individually themed rooms range from pin-up burlesque to sci-fi geek
The hotel has 19 rooms, each of which is individually decorated according to its theme, from the lavish burlesque found in the Pin Up Parlour to the Star Wars-styled Lord Vader's Quarters. Every room is a celebration of an icon or sub-culture, or designed by a local artist or boutique, often with an emphasis on the sensual -- nowhere more than Kraken's Lair, which has a dancing pole. The Standard Double room has a spacious bathroom with a full bathtub, though most rooms include shower stalls. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, and free Wi-Fi -- various adult amenities can be arranged in advance: leather spanking paddle anyone? Some rooms have sea views, although several could use a refurbish.
Features
Lively bar with saucy cocktail menu and live music
Although there is no restaurant on-site, the hotel serves up a full English and buffet breakfast each morning in the bar area (for a fee). By night this room comes alive with live music and double-entendre based cocktails; the bar also hosts frequent DJ and karaoke nights, which can go on late. Other fee-only extras include in-room cupcakes, couples massages, bloody Mary breakfasts, and bedroom toys. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout and if you can believe it, the hotel has a boardroom style meeting and packages for team building events.
