Bottom Line

The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is an upscale resort at the base of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Independence SuperChair, a seven-minute drive into downtown. A true ski-in/ski-out property, the hotel has 114 modern condo-style rooms with kitchenettes or full kitchens, plus an on-site spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and a playground for families with kids. The hotel is geared towards those who want to stay close to the slopes with the convenience of a self-catered apartment alongside hotel-style features, though free housekeeping is only provided once per week. It’s worth comparing rates to nearby Crystal Peak Lodge, which has similar luxurious features, but lacks a pool, at a comparable price point.

Scene

Family friendly, with a stunning lobby with high ceilings

The hotel has a classic ski-lodge vibe, with traditional pitched roofs, a wooden exterior, and stone walls lining the property. The stunning lobby has wood beams, high ceilings, stone floors, and wood paneling throughout, and the hotel provides all of the requisite after-ski offerings: a large stone fireplace surrounded by comfy leather chairs, clusters of deep orange chairs with sloping arms, and drinks during happy hour at Sevens, the modern bar and restaurant, which has a rustic-chic dining room and a sprawling outdoor terrace with mountain views. There are plenty of places to relax, including around the indoor and outdoor pools, and at the stylish on-site spa. A game room and four movie theaters make this a major destination for families, though plenty of couples stay here as well, and many guests are timeshare owners.

Location

A true ski-in/ski-out property outside of Breckenridge proper

The lodge sits at the base of Breckenridge Ski Resort's Independence
SuperChair. The hotel is secluded on its own hill and guests will need a car to get into Breckenridge proper. The town's bustling Main Street, which features a plethora of restaurants, bars, mom-and-pop
shops, and boutiques, is a seven-minute drive from the hotel, though the drive can be eliminated by using the town's
free shuttle system. The hotel is also steps from the BreckConnect Gondola, which goes to Peak 8 and into town. Additional drive times are as follows:- Seven-minute drive to the Breckenridge Welcome Center

  • Nine-minute drive to Breckenridge Brewery
  • Nine-minute drive to City Market, for groceries to stock the kitchens
  • Seven-minute drive to the Stephen C. West Ice Arena for iceskating
  • Two-hour drive from Denver International Airport

Rooms

Spacious apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes or full kitchens

Hammered iron
and heavy timber accents plus knotty alder woodwork create a homey ambience in spacious, apartment-style rooms, which start at 392 square feet. All have separate bedrooms and living areas, with distressed warm leather couches in the living rooms providing casual, mountain-lodge comfort, while white walls, neutral carpets, and bright nature-inspired wall art finish the look. White bedding is set with red throw pillows and bed runners, and furniture throughout the apartments is hardwood. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, DVD players, clock radios, and coffeemakers. Suites feature tiled kitchenettes with granite countertops, while
One-Bedroom Apartments (and higher) come with fully-equipped kitchens and stainless-steel
appliances. Larger apartments also have fireplaces and balconies. Bathrooms are modern and large, with long granite counters, bathtub/shower combos, and toiletries are provided. Weekly housekeeping is provided, and there are extra charges for daily cleanings.

Features

Multiple pools and hot tubs, large fitness center, and on-site spa

The lodge is packed with loads of features geared towards both kids and adults, including indoor and outdoor pools, a kid’s pool with a waterslide, a playground, and hot tubs looking out on Breckenridge's mountains. The hotel's family fun room includes arcade games, a ping-pong table, a pool table, and four separate movie theaters, one of which shows 3-D movies. On-site Soothe Spa offers a wide array of treatments plus a sauna and a grotto area, an adults-only relaxation zone with a large jetted pool and a waterfall in a cave-like setting. The hotel has a large fitness center with modern equipment and mountain views, and classes are also offered. There is also an outdoor barbecue area, a seasonal putting green, and a cozy fire pit. Sevens, the hotel's on-site restaurant, serves decent upscale pub fare and has plenty of kid-friendly options. There is a full bar on site and the hotel hosts weekly parties depending on the season. Breakfast is not included with bookings. The hotel provides a secure ski room where guests can store their gear, and has ski-in/ski-out access to Peak 7. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
