The biggest selling point of Pousada Laguna, apart from its ideal location to the sand at Praia do Foguete, is its beach club vibe. Kids can play in the open green area or in the game room, while parents linger at the nearby restaurant with a drink. The hotel is much like a series of modest two-story beach houses (that look much cuter on the inside than the outside). The glass-fronted lobby is just a place to check in, buy a snack, and grab a towel before heading to the beach across the street. Most of the clientele are families on a beach vacation, though couples stay here too.

It’s a quiet residential neighborhood with beach houses and some other inns, far from the city center. Services like a drugstore, convenience store, and ATM are at a gas station that's a five-minute drive. Restaurants and bars are a 10-minute drive. It's a 12-minute drive to get to the city center and Praia do Forte. Expect 15 minutes in the car to get to Arraial do Cabo. Buzios is a bit far, about a 50-minute drive. The bus station, at the city center, and the Cabo Frio International Airport is about a 15-minute drive. Driving times vary according to traffic, which is notorious in the summer.

The 40 rooms at Pousada Laguna are divided into Standard and Deluxe options. The Deluxe Rooms are charmingly decorated with black floral wallpaper behind king-size beds and have hammocks strung in front of large windows. Corner whirlpool tubs add a romantic vibe to the rooms. Standard Rooms are better for families, and can sleep up to seven people, since they have wooden bunk beds, single beds, and a queen-size bed. Cribs are available to borrow. Decor is a bit more simple, with tile floors, white walls, and rusty showerheads. Both room types come with a refrigerated minibar, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TV. Bathrooms are simply decorated beige ceramic tiles on the floor and small white tiles on the walls. They have a black granite sink and shower with walk-in glass doors. Some rooms front the beach, for beautiful views.
