Bottom Line

Set amid rural, wooded beauty, the Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa is a full-service resort set just outside Branson, overlooking Table Rock Lake and the Ozark Mountains. Major attractions, shops, hiking trails, and
restaurants are all within a 15-minute drive, but the resort offers plenty of on-site activities, too, from water sports and fishing to tennis and screenings at the on-site
movie theater. The spa and fine-dining Chateau Grille
are can't-miss highlights. There is also a kids’ club and outdoor playground open in the spring
and summer. Rooms are decorated with elegant decor that nonetheless feels chain-like; however, the Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses are a welcome touch, as are the jetted tubs,
full-sized refrigerators, and robes in suites. Many rooms have private balconies, some with lake or mountain views. It's worth noting that some of the restaurants are only open seasonally.

Scene

This chateau-inspired resort -- with sprawling grounds and plenty of on-site activities-- features elegant, but chain-like, decor.

Abundant water features, comfortable outdoor seating,
and a gazebo overlooking the mountains and lake are just a few of the many
picturesque features dotting the wooded grounds of this “Castle in the Ozarks,” as the Chateau on the Lake Resort &
Spa is known. The sprawling outdoor gardens are filled with flowers, waterfalls, koi ponds, and birds -- the latter found both indoors and out. Both the exterior and interior of the building represent an awkward meeting of 1990s chain resort style and French chateau-inspired features. The lobby’s glass
ceiling allows for plenty of natural light and the overall decor scheme is a
modern take on old European style. Reds, browns, creams, wood-tones, and
stonework are featured prominently throughout, giving it a more high-end feel than what can be found at most hotels in Branson. Large lounge areas have
cozy chairs, plush sofas, and stone fireplaces -- while the Chateau Grille is filled with upholstered wooden chairs and wooden tables. Both the Sweet Shoppe and Chateau Grille have outdoor seating and views of the lake. The pool area and other outdoor spaces can get busy in the high season.

Location

A quiet lakefront property, within driving distance of Branson attractions

Set on a quiet, wooded hillside overlooking Table Rock Lake, the Chateau on
the Lake Resort & Spa is less than a 10-minute drive from downtown Branson, Celebration
City, Table Rock Lake State Park, Table Rock Dam, and the Lawrence Welk
Champagne Theater. Silver Dollar City is a 13-minute drive away. You’ll need a
rental car to get around the area since restaurants, shops, and attractions are
not within walking distance; the hotel offers free parking. The hotel's concierge service can organize day trips, event tickets, and other excursions.

Rooms

Elegant, albeit chain-style, rooms with Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses; some with lake- or mountain-view balconies

Almost all the rooms and suites at the Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa have the same traditional, chain-like design with white sheets, plush couches, yellow walls, and white and brown patterned carpeting. The red couch and striped chair in each offer pops of color in an otherwise mostly
neutral palette, and the cherrywood headboards match the wooden furniture. The Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses are especially popular, as are the down comforters, feather pillows, and triple sheeting. Some suites have soft bathrobes, two 37-inch TVs, wet bars, microwaves,
and mini-fridges, while others have full-sized refrigerators, jetted tubs, and
computerized rainfall shower heads. Coffeemakers and lighted makeup
mirrors come standard. Many rooms have private balconies, with some featuring exceptional views of the Ozark Mountains or Table Rock
Lake. All bathrooms have Essentiel Elementstoiletries, as well as brown-tile showers and red vanities, which offset
yellow-toned wallpaper and stark white tubs. There's a good amount of counter
space, and almost all rooms include an extra sink and vanity area outside the
bathroom. Note that some guests complain of thin walls, which allow for noise from pets in neighboring rooms and children outside to travel.

Features

Indoor and outdoor pools, a full-service spa, five eateries, water sports, and a kids' club

The Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa has enough amenities for an active, all-in-one-place vacation, but the highlight is the spa. A 30-foot, Swarovski crystal chandelier coupled
with dark wood and modern tile welcomes you to the area where massages,
facials, body treatments, relaxation baths, beauty services (provided by the barber and nail
salon), and personal fitness programs are available. The spa has both lake and mountain views, as well as a serene outdoor hot tub area. The main restaurant, the ChateauGrille, has won awards for its gourmet cuisine, and the scenic outdoor seating isn't too shabby either. Additionally, there are several other restaurants, including
the Atrium Café and Wine Bar, Sweet Shoppe, and Downstairs Deli offering treats
and meals, but some are only open seasonally. There is a large, library-like loungeand bar that includes comfortable seating, a piano, and a fireplace.Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the
hotel, except for in the 22-room convention area, where there is a charge. There is also a
business center with two computers, in addition to laundry facilities, a game room, and a gift shop. The Crawdaddies Kids’ Club is open in spring and summer (for a fee), and there are babysitting services
year-round. The resort's Sassafras movie theater screens movies for both kids and adults. Two pools with hot tubs -- one indoor, one outdoor -- both have impressive lake views, and the hotel also has tennis courts and a full-service marina with docking options, fishing, and watersport activities for guests. A panoramic telescope viewing station is available on the patio and USA Today papers can be found in the lobby. It's worth noting that the 24-hour fitness center is on the small side and room service hours are limited.
