On an island in Botswana's Okavango Delta
Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is located on an island in the beautiful Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world, on a private 672,000-acre wildlife preserve. Arriving to the hotel is a bit of a trek -- to be expected in a destination this remote -- requiring a flight in a small plane from Maun to the Xudum airstrip (where staff will be waiting), a short ride in a safari vehicle, and then a boat trip to the lodge's dock (during which guests will first get to experience the delta's natural beauty).
Northern Botswana's diverse and exotic wildlife has made it a tourist destination for the affluent and adventurous, and the region now hosts a number of luxurious safari lodges. It embodies the fantasy of Africa: a land with open savannahs, sandy deserts, and shimmering orange sunsets, where elephants, lions, leopards hippos, buffalo, hyenas, zebra, cheetahs, crocodiles, and giraffes are still wild.
