Hotel Boston

This hotel fits in nicely with the quiet, mostly residential neighborhood that surrounds it, with mature trees and tasteful landscaping dressing it up. Inside, the modest lobby features nice laminate wood floors and a lovely wood- and black-granite front desk. Comfortable seating and plenty of natural light make it a pleasant enough space to relax for a while. The breakfast area just around the corner has seating for roughly 30 people, so it can get crowded at times when the hotel is near capacity. The hotel’s proximity to Boston College and Boston University attract a good deal of college families. It also draws tourists seeking affordable accommodations who don't mind being far from downtown. 

The hotel is located in Brighton, west of downtown Boston. The Washington Street train (T) station is a four-minute walk, and several restaurants, a pharmacy, and a Whole Foods Market are five minutes or less on foot. Boston College and Boston University are both about 25 minutes by train or about a six-minute drive. St. Elizabeth Medical Center is a four-minute drive, and the birthplace of John F. Kennedy is nine minutes by car. Baseball fans might appreciate that historic Fenway Park is a 15-minute drive or 30 minutes by train. Most of downtown Boston’s attractions will take roughly 40 minutes by train or 25 minute by car. Depending on traffic and time of day, Boston Logan International Airport is approximately a 25-minute drive, and it's slightly more than an hour by public transit. 

Guest rooms are comfortable and somewhat spacious, but small windows and a muted burnt-orange-and-gold motif make them a bit dark, and decor looks dated. Low ceilings add to the rather dreary ambiance. On the plus side, units are well-equipped, and Standard and Double Queen rooms have small dining tables with two upholstered chairs. Kings also have easy chairs and matching ottomans. The matching dark-wood furniture includes headboards, dressers with deep drawers, and desks. 

All rooms have air-conditioning, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. One-Bedroom Suites add sleeper sofas in separate living rooms, as well as kitchenettes with sinks and ranges. Bathrooms are on the side, with tan granite vanities and shower/tub combos framed by drab, faux tile acrylic sheeting. Units' walls are thin, but the hotel's location in a generally quiet residential neighborhood helps keep noise down. 

Features are limited, but they're in line with other properties in the hotel's category. There's a free hot breakfast with waffles and boiled eggs, a business center in the lobby with two computers and a printer, and free newspapers are available. Wi-Fi is free and accessible throughout the hotel. Some of the on-site parking spaces are directly in front of certain first-floor rooms, but parking costs extra and rates are high for a hotel well outside downtown. Some packages offered by the hotel include parking, however. Travelers with limited mobility should be aware that there are no elevators.
